Objectives
Following along with your instructor, you will become familiar with:

1) IDENTIFY components

In Room
1) IDENTIFY Wall Monitor - Shows an overview of the system status and instructional hints for positioning
accessories and patients. (Figure 1)

3) IDENTIFY RFID Antenna - Identifies the patient and accessory RFID tags that are within the reader’s field
of view. (Figure 3)

4) IDENTIFY Setup Camera – This tracks the optical markers and measures the initial patient setup surface.
(Figure 4)

5) IDENTIFY High Precision 3D Cameras/SGRT (Surface Guided Radiation Therapy) Cameras – These
cameras measure the patient surface at the isocenter position. (Figure 5)

7) IDENTIFY Handheld - An interface that allows interaction with the system. It helps guide the user through
patient setup and provides touch screen input capabilities whenever manual user input is required.
(Figure 7)

8) Table Reference Markers - This comprises four circular markers that are placed in a defined distance to
each other on the couch top. This is used to assign a reference location from which optical markers
placed on accessories base their location. (Figure 8)

Figure 8: Table Reference Markers

9) RFID Tags - The tags are attached to all positioning accessories so that they can be identified for each
patient. RFID tags can be assigned to a specific patient or a non-specific patient immobilization system
such as a knee sponge. If the patient is unable to use the Palm Reader an RFID card can be used for
patient identification. (Figure 9)

10) Optical Markers – An optical marker consists of a single circle that is detected by the system. More than
one optical marker can be used on an accessory or device. One marker provides an absolute position,
while additional markers can provide sub-indices or inclination information. (Figure 10)

Outside of the Treatment Room

1) Console Monitor- This monitor shows an overview of the system status from the console workstation. The
Wall Screen inside the treatment room will mirror this screen. (Figure 13)

3) Interlock Box - The interlock box is connected directly to the linear accelerator. It prevents the emission of
radiation if the IDENTIFY system has not completed the check of patient ID and the accessory setup.
(Figure 15)
a) The key for the interlock box is normally in the control position. It may be necessary, however, to
move the key to the override position, such as in the case of a non-functional IDENTIFY system
(IDENTIFY indicates an interlock problem on the error screen). Contact the system administrator in
such cases.

LED Meaning

Operation The interlock box is connected to the IDENTIFY Workstation.

Control IDENTIFY is in control mode for setting the interlock signal.

Cleared The interlock status is cleared.

Error Internal error: Contact the service technician.

Warning: If the key is turned to the override position, the control LED should not light up. If
the LED stays lit, notify a service technician.

Warning: Regularly check that the interlock box is not damaged and is connected properly.
Use of the system with damaged or incorrectly connected interlock box may lead to
mistreatment.
