   EXPANDED PROGRAM ON IMMUNIZATION
 Overall Goal
      Reduce the morbidity and mortality among children against the most common
       vaccine-preventable diseases.
 Specific Goals
      Immunize all infants/children against the most common vaccine-preventable diseases
      Sustain polio-free status of the Philippines
      Eliminate measles infection
      Eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus
      Control diphtheria, pertussis, hepatitis b and German Measles
      Prevent extra pulmonary tuberculosis among children
 Program Target
      Achieve 95% Fully Immunized Child Coverage.
   EXPANDED PROGRAM ON IMMUNIZATION
 Program Strategies
   Conduct of routine immunizations for infants/children/women through
    Reaching Every Purok Strategy
       The Reaching Every Purok Strategy is an innovation of the Reaching every
        Barangay
   Supplemental Immunization Activities (SIA)
       Supplemental immunization activities are conducted to reach children who have
        not been vaccinated or have not developed enough immunity after previous
        vaccinations
   Vaccine-Preventable Disease Surveillance
       Surveillance is conducted for all vaccine-preventable diseases most especially for
        measles cases and indigenous wild poliovirus.

 Issues and Concerns
     Basic EPI Skills and Cold Chain & Logistics Management
     Untrained Regional Medical and Nurse Coordinators
     Immunization is only conducted ~once a month in BHSs
     Some birthing facilities are not giving BCG and Hepatitis B | birth doses
     Requests for Vaccine Refrigerators were not granted due to cost
     Health workers claim that their actual population is < PSA Projection; one of
      the reasons why 100% accomplishment is not attainable
