WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?


The Duterte administration’s Build Build Build program is embodied in the Philippine
Development Plan 2017-2022.
Socioeconomic Planning is also in line with the country’s development priority of enhancing
infrastructure development in order to attract investments, generate jobs, and spur economic growth.
The Filipino government is actively trying to speed up its poverty reduction plan. Their long-
term goal is to be able to provide more economic prospects, which in turn would help many of their
citizens earn a higher and more stable income.
The goal for the Philippine government is to create more jobs, improve productivity, invest in
health and nutrition while focusing on reducing poverty.
According to the ASEAN Trade Union Council, the Philippines has the highest rate of economic
and social inequality in Southeast Asia. This problem is not limited to personal wealth. Land
distribution, educational and vocational opportunities and basic welfare programs are also affected by
the growing disparity between the Philippines' richest and poorest citizens.

WHAT IS IT?
DISCUSSION OF ACTIVITY 1
Government programs are programs and activities sponsored or administered by local, state and
national. They are required to adhere to a multilayered procedure adhering to any or all expressed legality;
this process takes place as follows with regard to the 3 primary branches of the Government – the Executive,
Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch.
Government Programs are offered in a variety of forms, which typically provide assistance and relief
to individuals in need; the nature of being in the state of ‘need’ can vary depending on the expressed details
of a given situation – Government Programs can include insurance, financial assistance, housing assistance,
and additional compensatory measures.
Read and answer the following questions. Use 2-3 sentences for your answers.

Terms to Understand
Economic and social inequality are complex problems, but they can be
addressed by governments and aid organizations working together to ensure that opportunities are more
readily available for the nation's poorest people.

Social Inequality is one the dimension of stratification that concerns the gap between the rich
and the poor. Social inequality is visible in many other social institutions affecting other social aspects
as gender, capital (social, political and symbolic, ethnic minorities and other minorities and global
inequality.
