Beech

Beech wood is whitish or yellowish, darkening to slightly reddish brown when exposed to air. Beech is often steamed to reduce nervousness in the wood and make it easier to process, producing a light to dark red color. Beech processes well by hand or machine, peeling cylindrically for uses like plywood, furniture, parquet flooring, barrels, tools, machine parts, and sports equipment. With chemical protection, beech can also be used for outdoor structures, water construction, and shipbuilding.
