Presentation:
Driver COM01 is a piece of equipment
specially designed to test alternator
regulators controlled by the ECU of motor
vehicles.
lt is an autonomous equipment that can be
used with any regulator test equipment,
alternator test bench and directly on the
vehicle. BfL..1
lt has seven currently used protocols built in: polarity and over voltage. lf the equipment is

lmportant Remark:
Currently there are hundreds of different references of regulators, each manufacturar uses its
own identification and additionally the physical appearance of many regulators is similar
although their operation is different. For this reason, special care must be taken when testing a
regulator outside the vehicle or when replacing it. The best orientation is to have the original
reference of the regulator and the alternator to make the correct replacement for an approved
brand on the market. When in doubt, seek advice before testing or replacing, sorne regulators
are damaged immediately if wrongly tested or fitted to the wrong alternator.

corresponding to the regulator. Currently there are
fifteen different templates and the communication speed
can be 9.6Kb or 19.2Kb. Additionally there are two ways
to check data integrity: Classic and Enhanced.
Fortunately you don't have to worry about any of those
details, the Driver automatically takes care of making the
necessary adjustments.

the value of the desired cutoff voltage and receives
information from the regulator about the operation
of the alternator rotor and the mechanical and
electrical errors that occur. The transmission speed

the LIN protocol. Fig . 9

lf this message appears, check the power supply of the

established, the drive is faulty.

When the connection is established the screen looks

determines the cutoff voltage of the regulator. In this
protocol, the Driver's Yellow test cable is also used,
which is identified as "DFM" although in the catalogs
of regulators that use the SIG protocol it may appear
identified as "LI" (Load lndicator).
Fig. 13
We must not confusa this signaling "LI" as "lndicator Lamp". Connecting the Pilot Lamp signa! to
that terminal of the regulator can damage the "LI" output and ruin the regulator.

The "LI" output is an Open Collector type signal, for this

reason it is necessary to use the Auxiliary Resistor

When the "C" terminal is not connected to "ground", the

Warranty:
The COM01 Driver has a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty covers
the parts and labor necessary for the repair, it does not cover freight. The warranty does not
cover damage due to causes other than normal use, breakage of the OLED screen, breakage of
