Electrical Installation Report G+6

This document provides an electrical installation report for a G+6 building. It includes calculations to determine the lighting requirements for each room based on illumination levels, room areas, and luminaire specifications. Calculations are shown for rooms on the ground floor like offices, a bank, and first floor rooms like children's rooms, toilets, and a kitchen. Lighting requirements are also calculated for rooms on the second floor through sixth floor like bedrooms, toilets, and corridors. The number of luminaires needed for each room is determined according to established formulas.

Scope of the Work

The scope of the work to be covered includes the supply & installation of all the
materials, equipment and all other necessities. Facilities necessary for proper and
1| DESIGN BY HAMDI KEDIR GEE/003510
effective operation of electrical system are specified in the bill of quantities and are
indicated within the drawing.

General Requirement
Electrical installation shall be carried out in accordance with the Ethiopia electrical power
corporation (EEPCOLs) and the Ethiopian Telecommunication corporation (ETC)
rules and regulation.

The Ethiopia Electric power corporation supplies power to the main distribution board for
3 phase (380 V with 5 wires) and for a single phase (220V with 3 wires) of 50HZ system.
All material and equipment for this supply connection and measuring instrument for
consumption of power shall be supplied by EEPCO’s.

The electrical work shall be implemented in the best and most effective manner to the
satisfaction of the consultant engineer in a full accordance with the drawing and
specification.

No change shall be done in any part of the design without prior approval of the consultant
engineer. The work shall meet all requirements and should be performed by skilled
electrician who possesses the appropriate classification field of competence.

Introduction

The requirement of installation is mainly dependent up on the type of work to be carried out in the space
in question. The number of Luminaries for the space is calculated by taking in to account of the visual

2| DESIGN BY HAMDI KEDIR GEE/003510

task to be carried out in the space, the area of the space, reflection factor of the ceiling wall, reflection
factor of the working plane, the room index and the maintenance factor.

In all case the reflectance of ceiling wall and working plan are taken to be 0.7, 0.5, 0.3 respectively
and maintenance factor of 0.8 is taken.

For any variety of mixed use building, mixed type of lamps, mostly incandescent Luminaries
&,fluorescent luminaries, chandeler , wall mounted with switch are used. The following illumination
levels are taken for various type of visual task to be carried out from EBCS (2015)

No Visual Task Average Illumination (Lux)

1 Supermarket 200

2 Bank 300

3 Corridor /Balcony/ 100

4 Toilet/Bath Room 100

5 Store 100

6 Bed room 150

7 Office 150

8 Kitchen 300

9 Living and dining room 200

Afterward we will realize how the number of luminaries for a given room is determined by following
some formulas shown below. And we use one step to remove resentence for the same room with in the
same area on different floor.

3| DESIGN BY HAMDI KEDIR GEE/003510

Determine the number of luminaries required for the space from the following equation.

No of luminaries= ExA
ѰxUFxMF
Where: Ѱ=fxn

E =is illumination level required in lux,

A =is total area of the room,

Ѱ= flux of the luminary

F= is luminous flux generated by a luminary (note-that the luminary can have more than one lamp),

N= is the number of lamps per the luminary,

MF= is maintenance factor and

UF= is utilization factor. UF is found from photo metric DATA of chosen luminary.

This number can be read just based on the maximum space between luminaries.

The room index is calculated from the figure bellow.

K = LXW
H (L+W)
Where: L Room length

W Room width
H Mounting height of the luminary

Power Calculation
Power is calculated for each distribution board by taking in to account the power of each incandescent
lamp having an actual power of 50W. Since there are various fluorescent lamp types according to their
wattage their power calculation is also different. (For further data one can refer to the light fitting
schedule at the Electrical plan design).

To calculate the rating of ACB (automatic circuit breaker) and cable size the line current must obtained.
For single phase I= P/V

4| DESIGN BY HAMDI KEDIR GEE/003510

*pf V=220

For three phase I=p/√3*v*pf v=380v , PF= 0.8

After obtaining the line current the circuit breaker and the cable size is taken from a standard value.
For each general socket outlet, a power of 200W, for socket boiler a power of 1500W and for socket stove
a power of2500W and for injera mated a power of 3000 are taken. To find the total power of a residence
two important manipulations are done. These are the total lighting power and the total socket power. For
instance,
For the babble bellow we use the following notification

N= Number of lights/ sockets in the circuit

P=Power in kw of units in the circuit

The average horizontal is calculated from: -Ø =

EA
/U.M
Ø The total luminous flux of lamp

E Average illumination

A Area of working space

U utilization factor

M Maintenance Factor

U is found from photo metric DATA of chosen luminary.

The room index is calculated from

K = LXW
H (L+W)
Where L = room length
W = Room width

H+ Mounting height of the laminar

So based on this calculative we can determine the no of lemonier (lamp)

for every room.
