Modscan32 User Guide

Modscan32 is a software tool for communicating with PLCs via Modbus protocol. It allows the user to view register values by specifying the address, device ID, length and register type. Additional configuration screens allow selection of the serial port, baud rate, data type and writing values to registers. For example, the device ID can be changed by double clicking register 40007, modifying the value, and clicking update.

Modscan32 user guide:

A. Main screen , see the following picture

Address: The modbus register address .For modscan32, display PLC address. So 40101
correspond to protocol address 100.
Device ID: Modbus protocol address 6 save device ID information. Default is 254, broadcast
address is 255.
Length: How many register you want to read
03: HOLDING REGISTER, select this one to read modbus register

B. Click Connection/connect to enter serial port configuration screen, see the following picture.
Select the corresponding serial port and baudrate. The following picture is default setup.
C. Click Protocol Selections button to enter the following picture, it is default setup.

D. Click Data Definition/Display Options, get the following picture. You can select the display
data type.

E. How to write, see the following picture.


I want to change DEVICE ID, double click register 40007(protocol address 6),pop up Write
Register screen. Change the value to 1 or other value. Then click Update to do write operation.
