MARKETING
the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including
market research and advertising."
If you work in a marketing role like I do, it's probably difficult for you to define
marketing even though you see and use it every day.
Marketing refers to any actions a company takes to attract an audience to the
company's product or services through high-quality messaging. Marketing aims
to deliver standalone value for prospects and consumers through content, with
the long-term goal of demonstrating product value, strengthening brand
loyalty, and ultimately increasing sales.
Marketing is the process of getting people interested in your company's
product or service. This happens through market research, analysis, and
understanding your ideal customer's interests. Marketing pertains to all
aspects of a business, including product development, distribution methods,
sales, and advertising.
The 4 Ps of Marketing
The 4 Ps of marketing: product, price, place, promotion.
Essentially, these 4 Ps explain how marketing interacts with each stage of the
business.
PRODUCT
Let's say you come up with an idea for a product you want your business to
sell. What's next? You probably won't be successful if you just start selling it.
Instead, you need your marketing team to do market research and answer
some critical questions: Who's your target audience? Is there market fit for this
product? What messaging will increase product sales, and on which platforms?
How should your product developers modify the product to increase likelihood
of success? What do focus groups think of the product, and what questions or
hesitations do they have?
Marketers use the answers to these questions to help businesses understand
the demand for the product and increase product quality by mentioning
concerns stemming from focus group or survey participants.
PRICE
Your marketing team will check out competitors' product prices, or use focus
groups and surveys, to estimate how much your ideal customer is willing to
pay. Price it too high, and you'll lose out on a solid customer base. Price it too
low, and you might lose more money than you gain. Fortunately, marketers
can use industry research and consumer analysis to gauge a good price range.
PLACE
It's critical that your marketing department uses their understanding and
analysis of your business's consumers to offer suggestions for how and where
to sell your product. Perhaps they believe an ecommerce site works better
than a retail location, or vice versa. Or, maybe they can offer insights into
which locations would be most viable to sell your product, either nationally
and internationally.
PROMOTION
This P is likely the one you expected from the get-go: promotion entails any
online or print advertisement, event, or discount your marketing team creates
to increase awareness and interest in your product, and, ultimately, lead to
more sales. During this stage, you'll likely see methods like public relations
campaigns, advertisements, or social media promotions.
Hopefully, our definition and the four Ps help you understand marketing's
purpose and how to define it. Marketing intersects with all areas of a business,
so it's important you understand how to use marketing to increase your
business's efficiency and success.

Natasha Shrikant completed her PhD in communication in May, 2016 and has
accepted a tenure track faculty position at the University of Colorado Boulder
starting in August, 2016— one of the nation’s best communication programs.
Says Natasha, “I participated in the IE program the final semester of my senior
year. I wanted to gain research experience before attending graduate school.
Through my participation in the IE program, I had the opportunity to work with
Professor Jurgen Streck and learn discourse analytic methods for studying
verbal and non-verbal communication. This research experience helped me
succeed in many of the subsequent graduate courses I took in my Masters
(University of Illinois) and PhD (University of Massachusetts) programs, and
today I still use discourse analysis for conducting my own research. Overall, the
IE program provided me with a strong foundation in research that contributed
to my current success as a scholar of communication.” Communication Studies
IE Pre Grad Internship alumnus Robert.
Megann McGill was both an IE Pre Grad intern and mentor. She completed her
PhD in communication sciences and disorders in 2016 and began a tenure-
track faculty position at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon in
September (2016). She notes: “The Intellectual Entrepreneurship (IE) program
is an exceptional opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a
graduate degree. As an undergraduate IE student, I shadowed graduate
students in speech-language pathology who shared advice about selecting and
applying to graduate programs, allowed me to observe them as they
conducted diagnostic evaluations in the UT Speech and Hearing Clinic, and
taught me to score and interpret standardized speech and language tests.
Through this unique internship program, I participated in hands-on clinical
experiences that prepared me for my graduate studies in speech-language
pathology. My IE experience undoubtedly strengthened my interest in
graduate school and provided insight into the rigorous clinical and academic
requirements of a graduate program. As a master's student and now as a
doctoral student, I have had the pleasure of serving as a graduate student
mentor for many outstanding undergraduate IE students through my
involvement with the Michael and Tami Lang Stuttering Institute. I frequently
reflect on my graduate school experiences with my mentees - and realized how
fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to work with each of these truly
remarkable students. I am thankful for the framework that the IE program
provides that, in turn, leads to successful experiences for both mentees and
mentors.”
Nick Brody was an IE Pre Grad intern and during his doctoral work at UT served
as an IE mentor to four students. He currently is an Assistant Professor of
Communication Studies at the University of Puget Sound. Notes Nick: “I
participated in the IE program as both an undergraduate student and a PhD
mentor. The program had an immensely positive influence on my career and
academic development. As an undergraduate, I got a taste of what it was like
to be a graduate student by assisting with research and attending graduate
seminars, which reaffirmed my commitment to graduate studies. As a PhD
student, I mentored several undergraduate students participating in the
program. I gained invaluable experience working one-on-one with my
entrepreneurs on research projects, advising them regarding their post-
graduation opportunities, and introducing them to the sometimes bewildering
world of academia. These are skills I use daily as faculty member, and I am
indebted to the IE program for providing these opportunities.”

Digital Marketing Strategy
Digital marketing strategy involves an assessment of specific goals that are
achievable through online channels. In an era when many consumers transact
business on their mobile devices, a well-executed digital marketing
strategy can be crucial to organizational success.
Digital marketing is marketing or advertising that uses online channels.
Performance marketing is a type of digital marketing that uses a payment
model in which you only pay when a certain outcome occurs.
Does digital marketing have a future in India?
According to a Goldman Sachs report, by 2025, the future scope of Digital
Marketing in the Indian Internet business will be worth US$160 billion, more
than trebling its current value. As a result, we have a better understanding of
the scope of Digital Marketing in India and its growing appeal as a profession.
Performance Marketing
Performance marketing is a digital marketing strategy that’s driven by results.
It’s ideal for companies that are looking to reach their audience at scale,
because payment is based on how users interact with the content.
Performance marketing refers to a form of digital marketing in which brands
only pay marketing service providers after their business objectives have been
met or when specific actions have been taken, such as a click, sale, or lead. In
other words, it is performance-based marketing.
Performance marketing works when advertisers connect with either agencies
or publishers to design and place advertisements for their company on any
number of performance marketing channels — social media, search engines,
videos, embedded web content, and more. Instead of paying for an
advertisement in the traditional way, these advertisers pay based on how well
their ad performs, by measuring number of clicks, impressions, shares, or sales.

Cloud Computing
Cloud computing allows mobile access to corporate data via smartphones and
devices, which, considering over 2.6 billion smartphones are being used
globally today, is a great way to ensure that no one is ever left out of the loop.
It is used for:
web development (server-side),
software development,
mathematics,
system scripting.
What can Python do?
Python can be used on a server to create web applications.
Python can be used alongside software to create workflows.
Python can connect to database systems. It can also read and modify
files.
Python can be used to handle big data and perform complex
mathematics.
Python can be used for rapid prototyping, or for production-ready
software development.
Why Python?
Python works on different platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry
Pi, etc).
Python has a simple syntax similar to the English language.
Python has syntax that allows developers to write programs with fewer
lines than some other programming languages.
Python runs on an interpreter system, meaning that code can be
executed as soon as it is written. This means that prototyping can be
very quick.
Python can be treated in a procedural way, an object-oriented way or a
functional way.

Finance
Business finance is the money that is available to a business. Whether
you are starting a new business, expanding an existing business or
developing new products, finance will be at the core of every business
function.
It isn’t just changes within your business that will require finance, either.

This finance will often be generated through revenue, but at the start of
a new business, or if you run into difficulties, you may need to look into
other options to finance your business and keep it running.
Short-term finance is a type of finance which covers a short time period,
which is usually less than 12 months. This type of finance allows
businesses to raise money quickly and attracts a low interest rate.

directly impact the business.
types of long term Finance:
bank loans,
bonds,
leasing and
other forms of debt finance
Types of short-term finance include:

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The organization wanted to know its share & its popularity in the corporate
sector.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The first three questions aim at the basic introductory information of the
organization and the person being interviewed thus rendering the follow up
work easier. The fourth question is about the financial standing of an
organization, it gives an idea about the financial status of the society being
approached.
The fifth question aims at generating information about the various sources of
funds of the societies. The sixth and seventh questions deal about the financial
performance of the societies. The eighth question is to find out about what a
society does with the surplus amount generated by them. The ninth question is
meant to gather information about the people who are instrumental in advising
and putting to action the investment plans for the society. The tenth question is
about what kind of investments are preferred by the society, on the basis of the
organization or on the basis of the time period. The eleventh question talks
about the institutions in which the societies make their investments in, say the
banks or other institutes. The twelfth question tries to assess what is it exactly
that the societies look for, while investing. For example do they prefer a high
rate of interest, or safety, or location, etc..
Thus the research is based only on the basis of the information gathered with the
help of the questionnaires.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
For doing the survey research, structured questionnaire with both open-ended
and closed-ended questions was used.
MODE OF SURVEY
The mode of survey was personal interview with the respondents during the
filling up of the questionnaires.
PRIMARY DATA
Primary data is that kind of data which is collected directly by the investigator
himself for the purpose of the specific study. Primary Data is collected by the
investigator through interviews of company employees, vendors, distributor
etc. Data such collected is original in character. The advantage of this method
of collection is the authentic. A questionnaire of about 50 questions was made
and it was given to the dealers to fill it up for our research. The research was a
kind of conclusive research as it helps in the testing of hypothesis. The method
of sampling was the Random method as it is unbiased.
SECONDARY DATA
When an investigator uses the data that has been already collected by others,
is called secondary data. The secondary data could be collected from Journals,
Reports, libraries, magazines, fair & conference and other publications. The
advantages of the secondary data can be –It is economical, both in terms of
money and time spent .The researcher of the report also did the same and
collected secondary data from various internet sites like www.google.com,
www.airtel.com, www.hutch.co.in and many more. The researcher of the
report also visited various libraries for collection of the introduction part.
QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN
We make questionnaire to know which category of people opts for which kind
of plans. In this category the factors included are such as income, background,
age, etc. This includes 2 types of questions
1. open ended
2. closed ended
1. open ended : In this respondents are not bounded to answer within a set
of choices and can give their own views
2. Close-ended: in this respondents are bounded to answer within a set of
choices.
I have designed my questionnaire on the basis of close-ended questions as
it is more feasible to calculate data from it.
SAMPLE DESIGN:
45 people have been interviewed to know their opinion about insurance and
finance
Extent
Sampling Technique: -
LIMITATIONS OF RESEARCH
i. Due to the following unavoidable and uncontrollable factors the results
might not be accurate. Some of the problems might face while
conducting the survey are as follows:
ii. Certain open-ended questions have been put in the questionnaire to
give respondents freedom to express their perception.
iii. Time and cost constraints were also there
iv. Chances of some biasness couldn’t be eliminated.
v. A sample size of 45 has been used due to time limitations.
vi. Al the data has been collected at random but it is always liable fro
biasness.
vii. The primary data has been collected from the middle and upper section
of the society.
viii. Less availability of potential respondents i.e. the concerned person who
takes care of the Administrative department.
ix. The response rate use to be poor at times because of the time
constraints with the respondents.
x. The response in public sector was not very encouraging.
CONNECTIONS WITH MARKETING PARTNERS:
PLANNING:
The process of planning may be as important as the plans that emerge.
Planning encourages management to think systematically about what has
happened, what is happening, and what might happen. It forces the company
to sharpen its objectives and policies, leads to better coordination of company
efforts, and provides clearer performance standards for control. The argument
that planning is less useful in a fast – changing environment makes little sense.
In fact, the opposite is true: sound planning helps the company to anticipate
and respond quickly to changes, and to prepare better for sudden
developments. Thus planning turns out to be an essential part of good
management.
Pregrad, usually prepare annual plans, long range plans, and strategic plans.
