Part II Reading Comprehension (21 marks)
Your brother Ted and his friends are planning their trip to Japan. Read their conversation and find
out what they have decided.

Jordan: I can’t believe the three of us are going to Japan together!

Candy: That’s right! And I can’t wait for next Friday – when the fun starts.

Ted: Let’s start planning our trip. I suggest we go to Akihabara on the first day.

Jordan: That is a famous shopping area, right?

5 Ted: Yes. You can find all the latest electronic goods there.

Jordan: Great! I can get myself a new mobile phone.

Candy: But that can be very expensive. Your parents will have a heart attack when they see the

bill.

Jordan: Well, I guess you are right. We will not go there. We can go shopping in Shibuya

10 instead. It is another famous shopping area. I want to buy some new clothes there.

Ted: Wow, you really like shopping a lot! By the way, I saw some beautiful pictures of

cherry blossoms of Ueno Park in a magazine. Why don’t we go there as well? We can

have a picnic under the cherry blossoms, just like the Japanese.

Candy: I don’t think this is a good idea. We won’t see any cherry blossoms this time of the

15 year.

Ted: That’s right. It is summer! We won’t see them in summer. Umm… maybe we can go

up Mount Fuji and watch the sunrise instead.

Jordan: Good idea! The views are great from up there. We can take lots of good pictures to

show to our friends.

20 Ted: Great! Where should we go to the next day?

Candy: Let me think… Tokyo Disneyland! How can we miss that? I can’t wait to meet my

favourite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Peter Pan.
