Facebook for the Enlightened
During the 1500's and 1600's, Europe was suffering from revolutions, wars, and social and economic downfalls. On the
upside, several people were becoming influential in politics, government, science, and human thought. Your assignment is
to pretend you are a citizen in Europe during the Enlightenment period. You want to be connected to the rest of the world
through this new idea called, "the internet".
In order to stay connected, you want to create a facebook page. Your facebook page must include the following sections:
Page #1: Facebook Wall (21 points)
(1) Profile Photo: Find an image to put as your Facebook profile. Resize the image to fit the proper space
(2) Current City: Fill in the current city with the location of your main home
(3) Facebook Status Update: Come up with an update of information for the three available spots
o Be funny or creative but be sure to include accurate information!
o Choose a date to fill in (look at when your person is alive)
(2) Friends: Come up with 6 people who would be your friends
o Think about your family, the heir to the throne, any advisors or other monarchs from the same time
o Find pictures to crop and shrink down to fill in for the profile pictures
(2) Photos: Using 2 or 3 photos from your 3rd page, create an "Album" and label "Album Title"
(10) "What kind of person am I?" Quiz: A short biography of your person and what makes them unique
Page #2: Info Page (24 points)
(19) Basic Info: Find basic biographical information about your monarch
(5) Employers: Describe your title, role, and location of your job
(4) Schools: Provide any information about your early life and education
(6) Activities and Interests: Fill in information about your interests, activities, and personal life
Page #3: Photos (Pictures and Paintings) (25 points)
(5) 1 map of your country
(4) 1 image of your palace/castle/home
(4) 1 image of your family
(12) 3 additional images of you
Must include caption descriptions of who is in the photo/painting, when it is from, and where it is taken
Presentation (20 points)
You and your partner(s) will present your facebook page to the class
You will explain who your person is and why you chose the information you did
You will be graded on the information you present (factual data), effort (did you practice or just shooting from the
hip), and clarity of delivery (do you speak clearly).
