Louie Binas here; nice to meet you all.

This time, I'll discuss the benefits and drawbacks of print,

broadcast, and new media. Let's get started right now.

1. One of the earliest and most fundamental kinds of mass communication is print media. It comprises
periodicals like newspapers, magazines, and weeklies as well as other printed publications. In order to
properly study mass communication, one must have a basic comprehension of the print medium.

ADVANTAGES

Print media is a simple way to market or disseminate awareness in any specific location. The greatest
approach to disseminate the word about any local event is, for example, through the local newspaper.
Print media gives you the freedom to pick the space for your advertisement, allowing you to plan your
budget and expenses. Print media has a sizable and dependable following in some forms. This is
unquestionably a fantastic boost for readership. Consumers frequently read flashy magazines for a
specific amount of time each month and they are always quite popular. The best technique to get
attention to any adverts is in monthly magazines.

DISADVANTAGES

This is not the medium to choose if you want to reach a worldwide audience. Instead, print media's
reach is much more limited than the internet's. It takes a lot of effort and preparation to place an
advertisement in print media. When working under tight deadlines, you are faced with a flexibility issue
in this situation. When it comes to audience targeting, there are actually a lot of restrictions because the
audience might not always have access to the specific newspaper. On the other hand, anyone with
access to the internet can do so from anywhere. In addition, your advertisement may frequently be
overlooked among the editorials and other adverts. Additionally, newspapers and magazines have a very
short shelf life since readers often toss or set them away after just one day of reading.

2. The term "broadcast media" refers to a variety of media outlets or broadcasters, including radio,
television, the internet, audio podcasts, and video material. Public communication and broadcasting are
the main goals of broadcast media.

ADVANTAGES

Trusted media outlets

Just like printed media, broadcast media hosts respected programs and personalities that people turn to
religiously.

Accessible to tv, computing, and mobile

Even though broadcast media centers around television and radio, most tv and radio stations have an
online presence. Thanks to platforms like Netflix and Hulu, as well as podcasts, broadcast media is
transient.
Disadvantages:

Expensive

It takes a pretty penny to secure a spot on prime-time television and radio.

Difficult to get your foot in the door

It’s competitive and challenging to get the attention of decision-makers. It might be harder for new
companies without street-cred to get featured.

Dying medium

Broadcast media is giving way to digital media as mobile devices are more affordable and accessible.

3. Digital outlets comparable to magazines, newspapers, radio, and television are referred to as "New"
New Media. They are viewed on tablets, desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices, and
frequently offer the same content as traditional media, only in a different format.

ADVANTAGES

Anytime, anyplace access to new media is possible. It is regarded as a news tool because you may access
the news right now and avoid having to wait for the morning newspaper each day. The news is
published on Twitter, Facebook, and internet news sources within a minute or even a second. While this
is not possible with newspapers or television, you can share local news with friends and other people.
You may constantly stay in touch with folks around the world, which is an additional benefit. old
acquaintances, distant relatives, or coworkers. Through social networking, it has been simpler for people
to contact with one another, share special occasions, and send photos and videos. Long distances
between people have become shorter as a result.

DISADVANTAGES

On the other hand, because anyone can post false information for amusement or to get attention, new
media is not necessarily a dependable source for news. In contrast to newspapers, TV, and radio, where
there is always an editor and publisher who ensures that material broadcast to the audience is correct,
there is no publisher to check whether the information provided is correct or incorrect. Although social
media has allowed us to communicate with individuals worldwide, this has had an impact on our face-
to-face interactions. Nowadays, people prefer conversing online rather than in person, which has
increased the number of online connections. Wherever you go right now, you'll notice that individuals
are physically seated next to one another but are conversing on their smartphones with different
people, eventually separating them mentally. Our lives will be impacted in one way or another by this.
For example, if you are unable to engage with customers and employers because you lack the necessary
experience, your work will undoubtedly suffer.
