Strategies On Budgeting Allowance of Grade 12-ABM

CHAPTER 1
I. INTRODUCTION
Budgeting plays an important role in our lives. As a student, it helps to ensure that
we can spend more than making. It allows us to be clever and plan for our short-term
and long-term expenses. Having a concrete budget plan can help us classify our needs
which is more important than our wants or desires.
According to Gacad, et al.,2019, the expense per week of the students,41% of
the students voted “301-400” for the expense for a week, and 7% answered “100-200”
as their expense. On the satisfactory of the students to their allowance, 66% voted
“yes,” and 34% voted “no.” On the savings of the students, 28% voted “100 pesos and
below” while 6% has no savings at the end of the week. However, these results do not
completely grasp the thinking of how a Senior High School student thinks about how he
or she should manage their weekly budgets. That is why much more research is needed
so that the future readers of future studies can get more ideas as to how budgeting
comes into the mind of Senior High School students of St. Mary’s College Q.C.
Allowance is a necessity for every student (Micomonaco, 2003). Being essential,
it is just right to state that a students shall be able to budget their allowance
appropriately. The problem is how to do it. Since students must have balance their
requirements and wants with their allowance, they find it difficult to achieve this. Also
some only have limited amount of money. Proper budgeting is important. If done
responsibly, it can give both the students’ needs and wants.
Students on the other hand, learn to save their allowance as they grow and meet
different requirements in school as well as things they want to buy for their own.
Budgeting is one of the practical skills that come in useful for them. However, the
escalating opportunities and responsibilities as they go towards higher level of
education. It becomes very challenging for students to manage their money (Inamac,
2008).
Every students do not have the same economic status, the other have own limited
amount of money of which there exist a distinction on budgeting their
allowances .Through this the major necessities that students spends on are mainly it’s
focus. To find out how much can students spend weekly and to examine if they
possesses good budgeting skills.
II. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to know how much allocate their weekly allowances, the
challenges students faces in budgeting and the strategies they use in saving money
among Grade 12- ABM students. It aims to answer the following questions;
1. What is the allowance of the Grade 12- ABM students?
2. What are the most common necessities Grade 12- ABM students spends on?
3. Is their any significance on how Grade 12- ABM students manages their budget?
II. STATEMENT OF THE HYPOTHESIS
There is no significant relationship between the obstacles and difficulties
encountered among Grade 12- ABM students with regards to the budgeting strategies
they applied on their allowances.
III. DEFINITION OF TERMS
BUDGETING – is a process of creating a plan to spend your money. Creating this
spending plan allows you to determine in advance whether you will have enough money
to do the things you need to do or would like to do.
STRATEGIES – a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.
STUDENTS – it refers to the learners from Grade 12- ABM that are enrolled for S.Y.
2022-2023.
ALLOWANCE – the amount of something that is permitted, especially within a set of
regulation or for a specified purpose.
V. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The study deals on how Grade 12-ABM Students manages to budget their
allowances. It look for an answers on where and how student spends their money on.
This study is significant for it will contribute a lot on Grade 12 ABM students, their
parents and the researchers as well.
VI. SCOPE AND LIMITATION
This research is limited and conducted only at Rufino G. Palabrica Sr. National
High School of the school year 2022-2023. The respondents of the study are the grade
12 ABM students. Each of the respondents will be given a questionaires to answer
