Welcome back Whitney Ann Richardson View Status | Search Openings | Update My Information | Logout Market Surveillance Analyst - NY Locations: New York ID: 8109 Description Market Surveillance analysts are responsible for monitoring assigned products and related cash and derivative markets in order to detect market conditions or positions for indicia of manipulative activity that potentially could disrupt or otherwise adversely affect the integrity, performance or orderly expiration of Exchange contracts. Analysts closely and proactively monitor market participation, deliveries, news and fundamental factors that influence the price of their assigned contracts and communicate regularly with market participants and clearing firm staff. Analysts also conduct investigations in connection with the departments monitoring of compliance with ex-pit transaction, position limit, transfer, delivery and reporting rules, in addition to matters involving manipulation or attempted manipulation. Analysts work independently and as part of teams in conducting their responsibilities and also work on a variety of projects related to the departments self-regulatory responsibilities. The departments work is consistently challenging, interesting and diverse and the position provides broad exposure to the industry as well as significant growth opportunities. Surveillance analysts play an important role in protecting the integrity of the markets and enjoy significant diversity in their work, including surveillance assignments across product classes, investigative work and project assignments. Qualifications: A solid, demonstrable understanding of the structure, use and operation of contract markets gained from either related industry experience or post secondary education is required. Understanding of OTC markets and their derivatives (especially swaps) as well as familiarity with concepts of hedging and finance is desirable. Required: Bachelors degree in Economics or a related field of study. Excellent analytical abilities as well as strong written and oral communication skills are required. A high degree of professionalism and the capacity to learn quickly are also critical attributes. Facility with Microsoft Office is necessary. Writing sample may be required.
