Each outboard door is attached to the·bottom skin of the outer wing via
a pia·no-typehinge. A rod interconnects the door with the main strut
       via fittings. .
As the main strut moves, the door
       follows.
Structurally the doors are built up from bonded and riveted assemblies
of outer skin, formers, frames and strips.

These doors enclose the wheel and strut bays. The main landing gear .doors"
consist of inboard wheel bay doors, which are hydraulically operated and
outboard strut bay doors, which are operated by the landing gears
            themselves.
The inboard doors are hinged to the fuselage structure at their inboard
ends by means of piano-type hinges. They open downwards and inwards. An
uplock mechanism retains them in the closed pos'ition. Hydraulic actuators
serve to open and close the inboard doors.
The doors are only open during the extension and retraction cycle of the
landing gears. When the gears' are up or down, the doors are closed .•
Twobrackets located at the inboard end of every door are connected to the
actuators. Another bracket is fitted to operate a hydraulic sequence valve
             for the main gear operation.

These doors are mounted to the main structure of the fuselage via

which in turn are connected to driving brackets on the doors.

6. SERVICE DOORS
The door can only be opened from outside the aircraft by a handle attached
to the latching mechanism, and when unlocked, it must be tilted up and
       {
turned about its centre line to remove it.
The service door 41A is located on the underside of the rear fuselage
aft of the·rear pressure bulkhead. The door provides access to the
components installed in the tail section. The door is constructed of an
inner pane, doublers, two curved hinge arms, all covered by an
       aluminium alloy outer skin.
The curved hinge arms are riveted to the door structure, and the door
       is hinged to _~he._f_u.se1a.g.es.czucruee. - at-i-ts front end. The·
door opens outwards, and is latched in the closed position by three
latches installed along the rear edge of the door. When closed, the door
is flush with the outer fusel-ageskin. It is sealed by a flat felt
seal which is glued to the door.
The door is retained in the open position by two pairs of spring
             clamps.

5. CARGO DOORS
5.1 General
The three cargo doors are similar as regards construction, kinematics and
        latching.
Each cargo door opens outwards and downwazds , The door is hinged to
the main structure via a piano-type hinge.
During door handling a cable and drum assembly assists in opening and
        closing.
A support strut, normally stowed in a clip on the door, can be attached to
a fitting in the main structure thereby holding the door in the open
        position.
The doors are held a.n the closed position by two hook latches engaging
onto latch fittings in the door lintel.
For visual inspection of correct door latching the bright-red coloured
hook latches are visible through small inspection windows.
To open or close the door a door handle operates a torque tube, the ends
·of which are connected to the hook latch assemblies. A hook latch assembly
comprises a knee lever, link and heok latch. In the latched position a
'.geometric lock is formed by the p i.vor. points of the knee lever being out
of line with the pivot of link and torque tube.
The door handle :LS accessible via an access panel. This panel can only be
closed when the door handle is properly locked, meaning that the hook
latches are in the latched position.
The doer handle locking device comprises a spring-loaded lock, lever which
protrudes through a slot of the door handle.
A hole in the lock lever allows a padlock to be fitted.

4. SERVICE/&~RGENCY DOOR
4.1 General
This plug-type door can be opened from the inside and outside. When the
door is unlatched, it can be opened by moving the door inwards and sliding
it upwards to the overhead position. For this purpose the door has been
fitted with four roller assemblies, which guide the door along auxiliary
and main guide tracks. The two upper roller assemblies are each equipped
with a lifting lever. A lifting cable from a cable-drum assembly is
attached to the lifting lever. The cable-drum assemblies assist in moving
the door upwards by winding the cable onto a spring-loaded conical
cable-drum. The two lifting levers are each equipped with a cable guide
       roller.
The door is stopped in both open and closed positions by rubber buffers.
To maintain the door in the full open position the front top roller
engages a spring-loaded detent on the main guide track.

DOOR FRAME----I:
./
<.
The four plug-type doors, two at each side, are held in the closed
pos i t i.onby a latching mechanism. Each. door pas two adjustable hooks
        at
the base and two latches at the top. The latches engage onto the abutments
'-. face of the lock plates in the door aperture. The hooks engage
into slotted holes in a catch.plate riveted onto the main structure.
To unlatch and open the door from the inside, the release handle is
pulled downwards, overcoming the tension of the spring. This results in
the link coming out;of overcentre and causing the shaft to rotate,
disengaging the latches from the abutment faces. The door can now be
drawn inwards and downwards, resulting in the disengagement of the lower
hooks and decapping of the air tube fo.rwindow demisting.
To unlatch and open the door from the outside, the release plate must
be pushed firmly. This results in the external release lever pushing the
link out of overcentre and the -shaft :to rotate thereby disengaging the
        latches from the abutment faces.
The tubular seal is carried on the outer edge of the door and 1S
clamped beneath a retaining strip by screws.

This mechanism keeps the inboard door handle in the locked (dow~)
position. To unlatch the passenger door the torque tube must be rotated
and therefore the inboard door handle needs to be released first. The
inboard door handle is held in the down position by the roller of the lock
release lever as sembIy and the abutment face of the cam plate. When the
lock release lever is operated the roller is withdrawn clear from the cam
plate. The inboard door handle can now be moved upwards. The roller
follows then the profile of the cam plate. On attainment of the fully
unlatched position, the cam profile changes to detent profile. Th.e roller
can run into the cam plate detent which secures the handle in the unlocked
position (fi~st detent). Locking is the reversa.l of unlocking. The
operator, however, must check that the roller of the lock release lever
has returned to the original position.
To unlatch the door from the outsi4e the outboard door handle must first
of all be pulled. Via the lock release cable a tappet lever pushes the
roller of the lock release lever assembly clear from the abutment face of
the cam plate, thus releasing the inboard door handle. Turning the
outboard door handle causes the torque tube" via the push-pull rods, to
rotate, causing the passenger door to be unlatc.hed.

The outboard door handle is connect ed via the aft push-pull rods to
the torque tube. The outboard door·handle can be used to unlatch the
passenger door after the inboard door handle has been unlocked.
The door latch fittings are bolted onto the door structure via
adjustable serrated plates and shim pads. This allows door adjustment.
