PROCEDURE MEETING LEARNERS’ NEEDS


INTRODUCTION (5 minutes)
 Assess the learners with the following questions:
a. If you were to think of three sounds that you like listening to the most, what would this be?
b. what are your reasons for listening to certain kinds of sounds?
c. have you ever thought about the absence of sound in your life?
MOTIVATION (15 minutes)

 Present video clip www.youtube.com/wish1075official “Kita kita trailer” to the class.


 Ask the following questions to the learners:
a. what reflections can you get from the video presented?
b. what are your thoughts about the people behind the story?
c. how is sound or audio useful in information exchange?

INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY (60 minutes)

PRACTICE (20 minutes)

Group Activity:

Go to your favorite spot where you usually spend you idle time. For about 15 minutes, listen to the mix of sounds you hear on
that spot and try to scribble some notes about your thoughts on the question below.
a. how many distinctive sources of sound can you hear in that period you spent listening?
b. what are the sources of these sounds?
c. if you heard these sounds blindfolded, would you be able to identify where you are?

 After the time allotted, let the learners present the output to the class.

ENRICHMENT (30 minutes)

 Pick an audiobook or a podcast and write a reflection paper about your experience on such kinds of audio information.
The paper should be no more than 500 words. Be guided by the following questions in your reflection:
a. what is the audiobook or podcast all about?
b. what audio media design principles and elements where present in the material.
c. how different is the audio information from text-based and/or visual-based information? Do you find it an effective
modality for information sharing?
d. what difficulties and challenges did this audio information present to you before, during, and after listening to it?
e. on what context will audio information be most effectively used?

Encode your answer as .doc or .pdf file and upload it in a file-sharing platform that your teacher has set up for your
class.

EVALUATION (50 Minutes)

 Think of yourself as an audio researcher who gathers different sounds for a production house’s sound achive. Using Teacher Tip:
an audio equipment or gadget, you were ask by your boss to create a sample of a sound collage that may be used as

a special effect for a future film or television project. You have been given the leeway to choose your own theme and Refer to the book for the RUBRICS: page 210
other creative considerations for your sound collage. Since you are pressed with time, you will need to think about the
order and duration of your recordings. You may one to combine voice and environmental sound. Consider all the
design principles and elements of audio information and media in the task. The collage should be no more than 5
minutes in length and must be save in any of the appropriate format as suggested above of this module. The sound
collage should be accompanied with your answers to the following:
a. What are the sources of the sound that you used for the collage?
b. How did you put them together?
c. What title can you give your collage?
d. In what context may the collage be used for a film or a television project?
 Everything must be upload in a file-sharing platform that your teacher has set up for your class.
