Wireless Network Student Name: Student No. :

1. Introduction:
This report is about Devon Education. Its fundamental business is to give professional preparing
and training to universal understudies. The company now wants to set WAN to help their
business. In this report we will discuss some data gathering techniques that are used for this new
project. Some issues will also be discussed regarding this new setup. Hardware and software
requirements along with cabling requirements would be specified. Design considerations will
also be discussed in this report. Performance, functionalities, cost and licensing of all hardware
devices and softwares used will be discussed. Network diagram will be designed to show how
the new system of WAN will work. Backup plan for data security will also be developed in this
report.

2. Data Gathering Techniques:

In the report given, the two data gathering techniques which were used are:

1) Undertaking interviews
2) Undertaking survey

The possible questions that could be asked in these data gathering techniques are as follow:

1) What OS the company is using on its company’s systems?

2) What is the status of your current network? Which type of internet connection the
company is using now?
3) What is the total number of employees and the hardware devices they are using in
working hours?

Issues uncovered in this investigation are as follows:

1) Hardware devices of employees in working hours increasing day by day so the current
internet system is not enough to use on all of those devices.
2) Clients are not able to access the network data easily.
3) Sharing of files and resources with other clients and company employees is difficult with
the current connection.
4) Internet access is not secure with the current connection for business partners and
customers.

Wireless Network Student Name: Student No. :

Changes which are required to the current infrastructure to implement new systems are as follow:

1) The current infrastructure needs to be upgraded to wireless connection.

2) Remote access of documents and uploading them to cloud system is needed which is only
possible through wireless connection.
3) The official documents should be available through system for compelling
correspondence on various tasks,

3. Request System Access:

Subject: Request for system access

Dear Mr. John Son,

Much obliged for the lovely and very enlightening conversation about the setup of new wireless
connection in Brisbane campus a week ago.

In our last meeting we discussed all the points regarding new system setup. All the requirements
were gathered and formatted. Apart from this suggestions were given by all the employees and
team members regarding issues that were addressed in current connection system.

After the minutes of interview, it was concluded that the Devon Education can easily and
possibly setup new wireless connection in new office within current resources.

This email is drafted to request approval from you for system’s access in new office.

I looked forward hopefully to gain approval from you soon.

Best regards,

 Strength
 Repetition
 Application needs (nature of administration)
 Adjustment to and joining with cloud administrations
 Virtualization
 Making sure about and actualizing adequate broadband access just as accommodating the
continuous system observing and the board

WAN design considerations for new setup are as follows:

 Staffing.
 Existing applications.
 Arranged applications (it's critical to factor these into the plan procedure)
 Nearby access necessities.
 Far off access necessities.
 End-client gear (workstations)
 System gear (routers, switches)

9. Topology:
Mesh topology (point-to-point) would be use for this scenario because the company needs a
wireless connection so all the devices has to be linked with each other through bluetooth or cloud
interfaces. By using this topology no data traffic issues would arise if all the staff is using the
network at the same time. It is much secure topology because the link is point-to-point.

12. Security Threat Detection and Testing

The security risks that could arise in Brisbane campus’s wireless connectivity are as follows:

 Performance and bandwidth issues

 Access to Private and Secure Cloud administrations can never again be thought to be
from explicit areas with fixed IP addresses
 Authentication issues
 There could be harmful threats
 Intrusion issues

The strategies to implement to avoid those risks are as follows:

 Firewall security bans unapproved access to systems and permits access of

approved correspondences.
 Authentication methods like password-based, biometric and smart card should
be adopted.
 Network protocols and data encryption
 RazorLink can be installed on systems to avoid restrictions of fixed IP
addresses.
 Intrusion detection techniques like signature-based method and anomly-based
method should be adopted.

13. Backup Plan

I would recommend incremental backup. It takes less time to finish and also fewer resources are
required. The process becomes faster than other backups.

15. Conclusions
From this report it is concluded that setting a WAN connection for a new office is not a problem. It gives
many benefits to company and reduces cost and resources. Data and information can be secured and data
can be accessed remotely. Backup process for data can be beneficial in order if some virus attacks the
system. Apart from this cloud services can be used easily through wireless connectivity.

Minutes of interview – Devon Education Group

Date: 21-July-2020

Present: Andre Shaw, Tracy Johnson and Angela Sharma

<<Your Name>>

Andre Shaw, office manager, wants the new system must be implemented and become operational within
a single month in the new office. Operation of office includes all software, hardware and WAN
connection to be setup completely within a month.

 Budget for new office setup is $30,000 only.

 Hardware devices and softwares needed for systems should be latest.
 Wireless connection must have high bandwidth and fast speed.
 Transferring and sharing of documents must be efficient.
 Proper documentation needed for new connectivity.

Tracy’s main concern is efficiency for materials that need to be transferred to others or to be uploaded on
website. She needs to handle all her stuff efficiently on official website.

Angela’s requirement is proper documentation of each material regarding student that it should be
properly addressed. She requires that all the data should be saved in same file extension and all that
material must be provided at the time of lectures.

Looking towards the present budget and requirements for new system, it is possible to setup the new
wireless connection in the new office.
