already put up? Raise your hand if you

in your homes that are not related to
the Christmas season? Raise your
hand if you want to name a few
EXPLAIN Teach the concept
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Okay, that’s right. So that’s just one of the few
examples of decorations. But how do we really
define home decoration?
Home Decoration is the art of making your
home look nice. It refers to the aesthetic
components used to make a home more
attractive and visually appealing.
There are numerous styles of home decor. The
options of colors, styles of furniture, and
arrangement of objects in a room are limitless.
So, we have the common types of accessories
and decorations that we can find in every
household. We have the:
Window dressings - these are your curtains,
your blinds, your christmas ornaments,
basically anything that can contribute to your
window’s aesthetic ambiance.
Question: Aside from your curtains & blinds,
what can you possibly decorate your
windows? What are your options for window
decorating?
House plants - plants can create a certain
mood that enhances your home’s appearance.
So what are these moods?
not only they can enhance the overall
appearance of the place but they've been
shown to boost moods, increase creativity,
reduce stress, and eliminate air
pollutants—making for a healthier, happier
you. Indoor plants don't just look good—they
can make us feel good, too.
Three-dimensional artworks - While
wall-hangings, paintings, and photos are some
of the most common ways to create
atmosphere, sculptures and collectibles are
another way to decorate.
Question: Can you name the
three-dimensional decorations inside your
home?
these are your figurines, some sculptors, your
souvenirs from a trip you took throughout the
years, your DIY art projects from grade
school, or some paintings by a local artist.
They all serve the same purpose. It makes us
remember memories.
But, how do you coordinate your home
decorations?
Choose a topic or theme you like - This is
one of the most common ways of decorating.
You start with an idea, generally related to a
topic, hobby, or theme.
Choose a color scheme you like - Sometimes,
instead of choosing a topic, you might want to
just choose a color scheme and incorporate all
kinds of different ideas that complement it.
Choose a particular conversation piece -
You might even base your entire décor around
one single piece—a big, central painting or a
sculpture
Choose a particular era or established style
- Perhaps instead of focusing on a theme or a
color, you can choose an interior decorating
style that is existing today.
I have a few examples here.
Coastal - perfect for those who want to bring
the beach and ocean into their daily lives.
Incorporates color schemes of white, blue,
green and soft brown.
Modern - a slick style that highlights
simplicity. Most designs are cleaned and
clutter free. Utilizes white, gray & black as
main color schemes
Contemporary - focuses on the design of the
present. A softer version of modern design.
Remember class, that what defines
contemporary design today may not define it
in the future
Country - highlights natural materials and
rustic elements. It represents a casual and cosy
decorating style, which alludes to the feeling
of a simple country life. The colour palette
incorporates pastels and bright colours and can
incorporate design elements such as vintage
wares and second-hand accessories.
Aside from my lecture today, where can you
actually get home decor ideas?
We have the:
● Number source of information, the
internet
● You can also look for home design
articles
● Or see in magazines for inspiration
● Or you can look at other people’s
home
