Memphis, TN 38101SAFETY SUMMARY
Specific warnings and cautions will be found throughout the manual where they apply and
do NOT appear in this summary.
TERMS IN THIS MANUAL
CAUTION statements identify conditions that could result in damage to the equipment or other property if
iproper procedures are followed.
WARNING statements identify conditions that could result in personal injury if improper procedures
are followed.
USE THE PROPER FUSE
To avoid fire hazard, use only a fuse of the correct type, voltage rating and current rating as specified in the
parts list for your product.
OTHER ELECTRICAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Electric shocks can cause personal injury or loss of life. Circuit breakers, switches and fuses may NOT discon-
nect all power to the equipment. Always refer tothe wiring diagrams. Whether the AC supply is grounded or
not, high voltage to ground will be present at many points.
Do NOT remove connections or printed circuit cards from the equipment while power is applied. This can
damage equipment.
Always lock out the Mainline Disconnect when power has been removed from equipment,
‘All installation wiring must be in accordance with the National Electric Code and be consistent with al state
and local codes.
‘TEST EQUIPMENT SAFETY
‘Always refer to manufacturers’ instruction book for proper operation and adjustments of test equipment.
‘Meggering or buzzer type continuity testers can damage electronic components. Connection of devices such
as voltmeters on certain low level analog circuits may degrade performance of an electronic system. Always
‘use a voltmeter having a minimum impedance of 1M Ohm/Volt. A digital voltmeter is recommended.
WHEN SERVICING WITH POWER ON
Dangerous voltages exist at several points inthis product. To avoid personal injury, do NOT touch exposed
connections or components while power is ON.
Referto the Elevator Industry Field Employees’ Safety Handbook for other safety inforrnation on service and
installation of electrical equipment.
(© 1992, 1995 DOVER ELEVATOR SYSTEMS, INC. iiiSTATIC PROTECTION
IMPORTANT! Read this page before performing work with electronic cards.
Moder elevator control systems use a number of electronic cards to control various functions of the elevator.
‘These cards have components that are sensitive to static electricity. Damage to some electronic components will
result from a rather small discharge of static.
Immediate and long-term operation of an electronic-based system depends upon the proper handling and ship-
ping ofits cards. For this reason, the Factory bases warranty decisions onthe guidelines below.
HANDLING:
‘SHIPPIN(
Cards shipped from the factory in separate static bags must remain in the bags until time for
installation,
‘Wear an anti-static wrist strap with ground wire. Acceptable straps may be purchased from the 3-M®
Company (Charge-Guard™, No, 2066) of Radio Shack®.
Cards MUST NOT be placed on ANY surface without adequate static protection.
Handle Cards only by their edges after discharging your body to ground. Components, traces or connec-
tors MUST NOT be touched.
Extra care should be used when handling individual, discrete components such as EPROMS which donot
hhave circuit card traces and components for suppression,
‘Any card returned to the factory MUST be packaged in a static bag designed for the card.
Any card returned to the factory MUST be packaged in a shipping carton designed for the card.
“Peanuts” and styrofoam are unacceptable packing materials,
NOTE: Refer to the Parts Manual to order extra static bags and shipping cartons for each card,
Failure to adhere to these guidelines will VOID card warranty!

CLC Group Fault Detection Test
‘This test verifies whether the CLC can detecta Group Communications errorby disconnecting the com.
‘munication line and configuring the CLC as the Master Car.
‘When the Master Car sends information out on the link, that information should come right back. With
LCC10 disconnected, transmitted information cannot come back, and the CLC should receive a fault
035-000. The procedure below will make this check.
1. Tum Swing Return or Car Top Box Power Switch ON.
2. Clear all CLC Faults. Press CLC, ADS, 1, E, EDT, 1, E, EDT, 0 and E.
3. Configure the Car you are testing as the Master Car by pressing CLC, ADJ, 3, 1, E,
EDT, 1 , Eand SAV Keys.
4, Toggle Swing Retum or Car Top Box Power Switch OFF then ON. This will reset the CLC.
NOTE: Since LCC10is removed, a CLC Fault 035-000 should occur. If a CLC Fault 035-000 does
NOT oceur, the CLC is unable to detect Group Communications problems and should be replaced. -
CLC Loop Back Test
‘This test checks out the remainder of the CLC Group Communications hardware, With LCC10 con-
nected, Transmit and Receive lines, GPSC/GNSC, are connected together, As in normal operation, all
CLC-transmitted information will now come back.
3-8 ‘© 1992, 1995 DOVER ELEVATOR SYSTEMS, INC.Troubleshooting / Communications (Group)
NOTE: To perform a Loop Back Test, LCC10 MUST be connected to connect Transmit and
Receive lines GPSC/GNSC together, and the CLC configured as the Master car. Upon power-up,
the CLC will transmit information and if that same information comesback, the CLC groupcommu-
nication is functioning correctly. Ifthe transmitted information does NOT come back, a CLC Fault
Code 035-000 will be set, The procedure below will perform a Loop Back Test on the CLC card.
1. Clear all CLC faults by pressing ADJ, 1, E, EDT, 1, £, EDT, 0 and E Keys.
2. Tam Swing Retum or Car Top Box Power Switch OFF.
3, Jumper LCC10 pins 1 and 2 together on the CLC card. This connects the Transmit and
Receive GNSC Lines together.
4, Jumper LCC10 pins 3 and 4 together on the CLC card. This connects the Transmit and
Receive GPSC Lines together.
5, Turn Swing Return or Car Top Box Power Switch ON. If a Fault 035-000 occurs, CLC
‘communications is bad and the CLC Card MUST be replaced.
NOTE: Repeat CLC Group Fault Detection Test and CLC Loop Back Test for each CLC in the
group.
Group Communications Wiring Check
1, Configure Car 1 as Master and Car 2 as Slave.
NOTE: On 3-car group jobs, cohfigure Car 2 as the No. 1 slave and Car 3 as the No. 2 slave.
2. Turn Swing Retum or Car Top Box Power Switch OFF.
3, Remove jumpers and reconnect the Link one car ata time. If CLC Fault 035-000 occurs,
‘communication wiring should be checked, See Figure 2ofthis Chaptertotrace GroupCom-
munication Wiring.
4, On 2- and 3-car groups, repeat Steps 2 and 3 with Car 2 as the Master Car.
5. If the job is a 3-car group, repeat Steps 2 and 3 with Car.3 as the Master Car.
NOTES:
* Only the Master Car will record CLC Fault 035-000.
© The Group Communications Link should now be operational. Reconfigure the
Master/Slave Cars as desired.

UN CIRCUIT
Introduction
[facar will not run on Automatic, and the CLC, Selector, and Door cards are functioning normally, the!
problem may lie in the Power Unit circuitry and related devices, or the valve.
A very good method of verifying proper operation of these components is to place the car on Car Top
Inspection Operation and,run the car UPand DOWN. Ifthe car will unin both directions on Inspection,
a high percentage of the Power Unit is operational.
Ifthe car will NOT run, the following proper Inspection Run sequence and associated circuit drawings
can be compared to the problem job to determine where the problem exists.
NOTE: See the DMC-I° Manual, Sequence of Operations section, for an Automatic UP’ Run
Sequence.
DMC-I® Inspection Run Sequence
Figure 3 and Figure 4 in this Chapter show simplified versions of the circuits involved in an Inspection
run, Bach step in the run sequence is located on the diagrams by an encircled number that corresponds
to the step number. Events that are not shown on the diagrams are in italics.
NOTE: For the purpose of this discussion, assume that the doors are closed.
UP Inspection Run
1, The Inspection switch in the Car Top Inspection Station is pushed to INSPECTION
position.
NOTE: The FAST tool will now show the CLC Status for Inspection: IN
a. One pote of this switch provides a P24 voltage feed to the other devices in the Car Top
Inspection Station. .
b. Another pole of this switch disconnects the P24 voltage feed to the CLC-controlled run
‘outputs (RUM, RDM, LE, RHS) as well as the IN CLCinputand the IN relay. This de-ener-
sizes the IN relay and tums off the IN CLC input,
3-10 (© 1992, 1995 DOVER ELEVATOR SYSTEMS, INC.Troubleshoot gg / Run Circuit
2. When the SAFETY and UP buttons are pushed on the Car Top Inspection station, P24 volt-
age is fed to the INU terminal on the Power Unit relay card. On the relay card:
8, P24 voltage is switched through the D7 diode to the HW3 contact.
b. Since the gate switch and all of the hoistway interlocks are made up, the HW__relays
are energized.
c. Because the HW3 and HW2 contacts are closed, and the CST and UMD contacts are
closed, the UPI and UP2 relays energize.
3. Since the Safety Stringis madeup, ACI voltage is presentat Selector Harness connector Pin
CS6-1.
a. Aslongasthecarisnoton the Top Directional Limit Switch, ACI voltage willbe pres-
ent on the TDL terminal.
b. With the UPI and UP2 relays now energized and the DNI relay de-energized, ACI
voltage will now be present at the R test point. With the IN and VMR relays de-ener-
sgized, the ACI voltage is switched to the OLC terminal.
c. The normally closed AC overload contact TRI will allow the MS starter contactor to
energize, which will start the pump motor.
4. The auxiliary MS contact feeds the ACI voltage from the R test point to the MS2
terminal.
4, Because the FST relay is de-energized, the UP SLOW Valve solenoid energizes.
NOTE: The car will now run UP at Inspection speed until the Car Top Inspection Station buttons
are released, or the Top Directional Limit Switch is opened.
