Unit 38 Assignment 2
Unit 38 Assignment 2
Introduction
So, in my report, I'll talk about my product and how I used it, for example, since I'm familiar with and explain the
navigation site map and what it contains, which may imply that the user would find it useful for other reasons. After that,
I'll go into the genuine goal of how you'd design the product and why you'd do it, as well as the customer brief and other
details. Following that, I'll go through the animation's logic, as well as a table with assets, a mood board, a brainstorm and
I will be mentioning every scene I created and the properties of each elements in logo , banner and the extra splash screen
that I will be adding and finally data protection act. The Gantt chart includes the user's demands, the target audience, the
layout and scheme, and ultimately the conclusion .
Navigation Site Map
Client Brief
My boss has requested me to be in charge of this project. At Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, I'll be in charge of building and
developing an Interactive Media Authoring curriculum. They've already started talking about the prospect of putting together a project to
create a multimedia product to promote the Department of Information Technology and Computing. The goal of the interactive multimedia
product is to inform parents and college students about the IT & Computing department at JCC. It will be utilised on PCs at open day events.
Laptops, tablets, and televisions all have touch displays. When the target audience examines the IT standards, the product will also be
available on the JCC website, which will provide equal information. If the product proves to be a success, further items for various college
departments may be developed.
Own Brief
I will be creating an animation that allows the user to control it and go over the information , the animation is made for informative reason and
to inform new student who are willing to join the college , the animation will be done using adobe animate it will include text , pictures and
videos , I will also be using the theme colours of the college logos and to allow the user to go through the animation Ill be adding navigation
buttons and also I will be adding some advanced features like music , the animation will be accessible from all devices and also the user
interface can be touch screen keyboard etc….. , the animation will include 7 scenes in total splash splash screen which will pop up for 5
minutes , main menu , BTEC , A-LEVEL , FACILTIES , GALLERY , STUDENT SERVICES AND VIRTUAL TOUR , each page will include the logo and the
banner .
Purpose
The goal of the interactive multimedia output is to serve as a resource for information about Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College (JCC). It is
designed for use on PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and Touch Screens at open day events. Furthermore, the product will be published on the JCC
website to provide extra information to the target audience as they explore the institution. According to JCC, the multimedia product will be
created in Adobe Flash, but other methodologies will be considered to showcase alternative design concepts.
Market Research
Market research is a process of gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information about a given market. It takes into
account geographic, demographic, and psychographic data about past, current, and potential customers, as well as
competitive analysis to evaluate the viability of a product offer. Market research allows you to discover the rules of
the marketing game by understanding your target audience. Moreover, it allows you to understand who your
opponent is by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of your competition.
College 1 ( south and city )
Navigation techniques :
Arrows , buttons and 3 dots
The first college Ill be reviewing their interactive media is south and city college , firstly the media has 3 scenes , the first scene is 360 degree
virtual tour , talk and tour and the next level , firstly ill be talking about the navigation the designer has used in this animation , the designer
has used variety of navigation techniques , the first technique the designer has used is normal buttons which allows the visitors to click on it
and it takes them to a new page showing them the information in a more detailed info , when you want to change to the second scene you
will have back and next arrow to do so , these arrows allows you to change between the scenes easily , the 3 dots navigation allows you to
change the scenes but without the order like you can go from scene 1 to 3 without visiting scene 2 .
The animation has done a very good job using the colours , the colours that the college has used were eye appealing because they match with
the logo and the other website elements on the website and also the colours were kept consistent and what I mean by that that there is
constant theme across all the scenes , this improves the animation in a big way because its eye appealing for the user and it increases the
chances that the user will carry on watching the animation .
The use of media elements in this animation were very good, pictures were very good and they were chosen in a good way because they
display the college and the colours of the images were very good and they blended perfectly in the scene because the colours were matching
with other elements .
Text boxes were used in the animation to give information for the users viewing the scene , the designers have used very clear font and they
have used white colour for the text and dark box background , this helps the people to read the text easily and makes it visible even for people
with sight problems , big size heading were used to take the viewer attention to the box .
Drawbacks :
The only drawback I spotted un this multimedia that its very short making it information insufficient , if it had like extra 3 scenes it would’ve
been more informative and also when you directly look at the animation there is no much information on the actual scene , all of the
information is on other pages and it appears when you click the button
College 2 name (Solihull college)
The second college Ill be reviewing their interactive media is Solihull college , firstly the media has 3 scenes , the first scene 16-19 , discover the
college and lastly apply now , firstly ill be talking about the navigation the designer has used in this animation , the designer has used only 1
navigation technique in his multimedia animation which is buttons , each scene contained 1 button and each button ill take you to another
page .The animation has used very simple 2 colours for the animation , the designer has used only 2 colours in the multimedia which are white
and red , the colours are very simple and they are not very appealing for the viewers eye in my opinion , I think the 2 colours are chosen from
the logo . The use of media elements in this animation were not good enough to be put on a college website , pictures weren’t chosen in a
good way because they didn’t blend with the other elements in the screen like bittons , and that was cause because the colours of the pictures
were very bad and they didn’t match the colours of the same elements , the designer has also embedded a video from youtube which gives the
user more information about the college . Text boxes were used in the animation to give brief information about the scene and als they were
used to write headers like “apply now” , “discover the college “
Drawback :
However, one flaw with this website is that it does not fill the entire page with material; instead, the sides of the page remain blank, giving it a
less professional image than it would otherwise. This page's search bar should be in the centre, so that users can notice it immediately away
when they come. Users aren't going to be as excited about this as they may be. You will be able to reach out to clients that would otherwise be
out of reach if you create a website for your company. Your business may be modest, but its products or services have the potential to reach a
broader market. Internet shopping is still on the rise, according to studies, so putting your business online might help you capitalise on this
trend and grow your brand. Even if you don't plan to sell anything on your website, you should let your visitors know. Many people perform
online research before going to a company's physical location. As a result, having a well-designed website makes it simpler for people to come
visit you or locate your business in the first place. and because there aren't many searches on this page, having to
College 3 ( JCC College)
A multimedia interactive product created by JCC is intended to convey information about the branch's computers and records generation to
parents and future students. During open day events, the presentation may be seen on PCs, laptops, tablets, and touch devices. For future
college students, information about the JCC's IT publications may be available on the JCC's website. If the first product is a success, the college
branch will produce more items. JCC has produced a requirements specification after meeting with your boss. Before the product can be
produced, you've been entrusted with creating a set of design files with the help of your supervisor. Before any work may begin, these files will
be sent to JCC for approval. The textual information on the internet web page is tiny, making it difficult for customers to read it when they wish
to access it. If the writing is simply too small, they will be unable to comprehend what it is saying and may choose to utilise software that
allows them to zoom in on the website and clearly view the written content. This is a disadvantage since it will take time for them to open and
utilise the programme, causing them to waste time.
Disadvantage :
One problem of the animation page is that when a customer wants to enter it, it will be difficult for them to see the text because it is small. If
the font is small, they will be unable to understand what it is saying and will need to utilise software that allows them to zoom in on the
animation and virtually view the text. This is a drawback since it will take time for them to access and utilise the programme, which is time
consuming.
My banner :
Justification of Banner
An image (logo) and text will be used in the banner. The textual information will be blue and placed in the middle of the banner, where it will
be easiest for the user to view and will also add to the banner's overall appeal. The photo will be of the college's successes and badges, such as
Ofsted grade 1 and national achievements, in order to promote the institution, given it is distant from their home. This photograph will be
clear enough for people to view it clearly.
Colours used
The background colour of my main menu will be black. I chose black because it will make everything stand out, because the college colour theme is light
blue , the black colours allows the viewers to see the text clearly even if the viewer has hardness in sight but the text colour will be very clear .
Text used
I included text in my banner because it allows me to tell my users about the product and they will be able to get more information from it than
if it were just a picture with no text. The wording also informs viewers about who created the banner and whose college is featured in it.
Images used
I utilised image in the banner since they made it more dynamic and therefore more appealing to viewers. Images are also beneficial since they
enable me to provide information to consumers in a way that is simple, understandable, and engaging. Because the product is about the
college and the open day when I add the college achievements badges they will be more excited to join the college also it makes the institution
appear more professional and enjoyable to attend.
Hand sketch of your intended logo using a ruler, pen or pencil annotated.
This is the logo I'm working on for my interactive media project. This is for my product, and it will appear in every scenario. I'm going to utilise
the Calibri text type and make it 300 px wide, 200 px tall, and light blue and black. On the logo, just words will be visible (jcc). This is the
original concept that I planned and drew for my open day product. This logo will simply contain text and a diagonal line design, as you can see.
Colours used
The text colour will be light blue which matches with the college
Text used
I used text in my logo because text lets me tell my users what the product is about and they will be able to take information from my logo
rather than if the banner only had an image and no text. The text also lets the users see who made the logo and which college is being referred
to.
Images used
I utilised graphics in the banner since they made it more dynamic and therefore more appealing to viewers. Images are also beneficial since
they enable me to provide information to consumers in a way that is simple, understandable, and engaging. Because the product is about the
college and the open day, it makes the institution appear more professional and enjoyable to attend.

Data Protection Act
Any data or information on a specific person that your company holds or manages must be adequately safeguarded. In the United Kingdom,
financial information and payment data, as well as contact information for your employees, are all secured by law. Employee records,
customer information, loyalty programmes, transactions, and data collection are all examples of critical data that companies often keep. This is
to keep third parties from using the information for nefarious purposes such as phishing and identity theft. We'll show you why data security
isn't simply a legal requirement, but also a need for safeguarding and maintaining your company. The data protection act is a piece of
regulation that governs how a business handles personal data about its consumers.
Names, addresses, phone numbers, and other personal information are included in the data. The saved data cannot be shared with anyone
else; only the owner of the data has access to it. Because the data may need to be updated, and the individual may need to make adjustments,
this is the case. It is a significant offence and a violation of data protection regulations if a person's personal information is shared with others.
This is critical for Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, since they must adhere to the Data Protection Act while recording employee
information, which requires that the data be kept secure. Employee information must be kept safe and secure.
The Data Protection Act may be used against Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College if employee information is misused or lost. Because
employees submit their personal information to Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, it must be kept safe and secure.
Parts of the act
● Honestly and legally obtained
● Kept for exact and legal reasons and not treated in any form unsuited for the purposes of the information being taken
● Satisfactory, appropriate and doesn’t go against the purpose of the information
● Precise and updated regularly, the information should only be kept for as long as it is needed, when a staff member leaves the job the
data should also be erased
● Handled accordingly for the rights of the person whose data it is.
● The data should be secure; this is so that it isn’t lost or taken by somebody. The information should not be misused.
● The information should not be passed out of the European Economic Area, it can only be passed out if it has an acceptable level of
protection.
Accurate and obtained in a lawful manner Kept for precise and legal reasons, and not altered in any way that is incompatible with the
information being gathered satisfying, appropriate, and does not contradict the information's aim The information should be precise and
updated on a regular basis, and it should only be maintained for as long as it is needed; if a staff member quits the position, the data should be
deleted. Handled in line with the rights of the individual whose information is being processed The data must be secure in order to avoid being
lost or stolen. Information should not be misused, and it should only be transmitted beyond the European Economic Area if it is secure enough.
This will ensure that Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College personnel like coming to work and are not afraid to work with specific people.
Information request
● The request for information must be written and not asked for verbally, the reason for this is that the written request will be seen as a
receipt.
● Once the request has been received it must be processed within 20 days of the receipt being received.
● The person who has received the request must notify the person who has requested for the information if the data cannot be shared or
if it is unavailable. They must also let the requester know if the information cannot be shared with full justification of why this is.
● The person who has received the request must ensure that they contact the person who has requested and talk about the requirement
of the information, if the request for the information is unclear then the information cannot be shared.
● If the person who has requested for the information is denied of this information, then they can appeal against this decision and they
can ask why they have been denied.
Theft of data
Employees that take data from an organization's system and transfer it to themselves using a USB pen drive, floppy discs, or even emailing it to
themselves is known as data theft. This is a criminal offence because the information is being gathered, and employees who are found doing so
risk losing their jobs and being tried and convicted in court. If a student at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College steals information, they can
be fired and additional action taken against them by prosecuting and putting them to court. Because data theft is a severe offence, this is the
case. After all, the perpetrator will reveal personal data, which is against the Data Protection Act.
My site banner animation will be utilised to show potential students what courses are offered at Joseph Chamberlain College. This can provide
these individuals an overview of the options available to them as well as the system that they believe is the greatest fit for them.
Target Audience:
This animation is for students in year 11 who are towards the conclusion of the academic year or in the middle of it. This is due to the fact that
they will be graduating from high school shortly and applying to universities. They will need to see what courses are offered at Joseph
Chamberlain College in order to pick the best course for them, hence this web banner animation is aimed at them. Parents of these pupils may
use this animation to learn more about the courses available and to determine which one is best for their kid.
User Requirements:
1. The advert can either be vertical or horizontal in orientation, but it should be suitable to fit either down the side of a web page or along
the centre of the page in between other content on the website.
2. The animation should be between 30 - 60 seconds in duration
3. The animation must stop once it has reached the end of the advert
4. It must also contain a rollover button to allow the user to either find out more by taking them to another scene within the animation or
to simply restart the animation
5. Sound must be used to ensure it is interesting and appealing
6. The animation should include a combination of movement, masking and morphing (at least two)
7. The expected file format for the web advert is a compressed SWF
Features of the product
Purpose
The goal of the interactive multimedia output is to serve as a resource for information about Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College (JCC).
It is designed for use on PCs, Laptops, Tablets, and Touch Screens at open day events. Furthermore, the product will be published on the JCC
website to provide extra information to the target audience as they explore the institution. According to JCC, the multimedia product will
be created in Adobe Flash, but other methodologies will be considered to showcase alternative design concepts.
Input methods:
The only input method for this presentation is going to be the mouse. The user can use the mouse to click the buttons of the presentation and
they can interact with the presentation using this.
Number of scenes:
Because there will be an introduction to the animation ( splash screen ) , the animation will include seven scenes. The main menu, the subjects
provided, why students should pick JCC to study, the amenities, image galleries, student services, and a quiz will be the scenes. All of these
scenarios will give the user information about the college, making them desire to attend classes there.
Layout and scheme:
In order to match the college's emblem, I utilised a blue colour scheme with a gradient. I created the curved rectangles with the shape tool,
then I wrote the different pages within these rectangles. I used the Calibri font, which I coloured white to stand out against the grey rectangles.
The typeface is size 18 and the font is Calibri. The buttons will make it simple and efficient for the user to go through the animation. The colour
palette will be the same throughout the presentation to provide uniformity and professional appearance.
My digital media product has a very basic layout, with a continuous minimal concept with the JCC brand colours utilised throughout. These are
the colours grey, tortoise, and dark blue. I choose to keep my product simply with complementary colours in order to make it user pleasant for
users, as well as to make it easy for users to read the text and see the photographs, without a distracting backdrop or difficult to read font
colour. I also chose to utilise the colour of the college's emblem to maintain the firm identification consistent across the topic of the media
product. This establishes brand identification and identifies who this product is intended for. Furthermore, in terms of layout, I will start with a
home screen with buttons to each component of the product and a picture of the college on the side.
Conclusion
Finally, you can see that I discussed the brief that was supplied to me by the customer, as well as the brief that I developed myself. I've done
some market research since I think it will help me learn more about various universities and provide me with some ideas. I discussed the
disadvantages and advantages of the websites I looked at for my market research, as well as the banners that these sites supplied. I've
prepared a brainstorm that has all of the pages that will be included in the multimedia product and lists all of the thoughts that I have..
Furthermore, I created an assets table to display the stuff that I will be using, which is all media products. I looked into the product's legal acts,
which include the data protection act, copyright law, and privacy law.
