Political Parties: Performance Task
Today, you will take your political beliefs and form your own political party. Your party does not have to mirror the two major parties in the Australia that we have already discussed (Labor and Liberal), but your party should incorporate some of the same components as the two major parties. You will design a campaign and present your information back to the class this Friday Week 8. Your presentation might take the form of: A speech An interview A PowerPoint presentation A drama presentation A combination of the above. You may like to deliver your presentation using props or wearing costume. Your presentation will be filmed using the school video cameras. Length: 5 minutes maximum. Audience: Our class. What you need to do today: Form a group of 2-4 people and have your COGS book available. Work on the following requirements (next page) in your COGS Book. o You will need your imagination and the internet and/or research for each task. Your pages should be ruled up with margins using clear headings and underlined. Your bookwork should be neat and presentable. Have a presentation ready for the class by this Friday Week 8 (this Friday!) after assembly.
Political Parties: Performance Task
You will be marked on your bookwork as well as the actual presentation.
Political Parties: Performance Task
Requirements for your presentation: 1. Party Name: You must come up with an original name for your political party. Put some thought into it, remember, a name reflects many things about what your party represents. You should be able to explain seriously why you chose it. 2. Party Symbol and Logo: You must create a symbol and logo for your party. Think about the beliefs you hold, and your party name. The symbol must fit or match with the other components of your political party. Draw this neatly in your COGS book in colour. 3. Party Colour: The Labor Party is usually represented by the color red, the colour blue usually represents the Liberals. What colour will your party be represented by? Why? Explain in your COGS book. 4. Party Platform: You must list at least 15 issues and ideas that your party hold or believes in. You should be able to explain why these issues are important to your party. Write these in your COGS book. 5. Demographic Groups: What groups of people in the Australia will vote for your political party and why? Most political scientists say that certain groups in the Australia tend to vote for a particular party. For example, upper-class White males tend to vote for the Liberal Party. Which groups will your party reach out to and look for support from? Write in your COGS book. 6. Regions of Country: What regions of the country will support your political party and why? Or, what regions of country will your party win? Draw a neat blank Map of Australia and mark out the areas where you think you will win the vote. You need to be able to tell the audience why you think you will win in those areas.
