INTRODUCTION
Samsung is a South Korean company originally founded as a grocery
trading store by Lee Byung-Chull in March 1938. The company
forayed in the electronics industry in 1969 and its first electronic
product was a black-and-white television. Soon, the company also
started exporting its products and became a major electronic
manufacturer in its home country. In 1970, the company acquired a
50 per cent stake in Korea Semiconductor.

Witnessing a rapid expansion in the early 1980s, the company

established separate branches for its various electronics businesses.
It is at this time that the company also made investments in two
research & development institutes which helped it become the
market leader in information technology services. By 1990s, the
company had become one of the top five electronics makers in the
world and was mainly known for its semiconductors, LCD screens
and other technology products.

Samsung forayed into mobile phones in 2000 with the launch of a

feature phone with built-in camera that could take up to 20 photos at
a time. By late 2000, the company had launched several phones, but
its global success story started with the launch of the Galaxy S series
of smartphones that used the company’s OLED screen technology
and hummingbird processor. Besides smartphones, the company is
also a major vendor of tablet computers, particularly Android-
powered Samsung Galaxy Tab-series, and is regarded as the
originator of the phablet category through its Samsung Galaxy Note-
series devices.
Now, Samsung is one of the major manufacturers of electronic
components globally. It is also one of the major suppliers of
electronic products like batteries, semiconductors, chips, flash
memory and hard drive to companies such as Apple, Sony, Nokia,
etc. Samsung has also been the world's largest manufacturer of
television since 2006, and of smartphones since 2011. In 2017, the
company overtook Intel to also become the world's largest
manufacturer of semiconductor chips.

Research Methodology
Research is the systematic design collection analysis and reporting of data
and findings relevant to a specific procedure and method that have been
adopted for the achievement of the project objectives

A.Research Design
Research design is important primarily because of the
increased complexity in the market as well as marketing approaches available
to the research . In fact it is the key to the evolution of successful marketing
strategies and programmer.According to kerlinger,"Research Design is a plan
conceptual structure and strategy of investigation concieved as to obtain
answer to research question and to control variance.

The research design refers to the overall strategy that you

choose to integrate the different components of the study in a coherent and
logical way, thereby, ensuring you will effectively address the research
problem it constitutes the blueprint for the collection, measurement, and
analysis of data.

B.Method of Data collection:

This report was prepared after collectinh data from the
retailer/dealer and past data arranged from the various studies conducted in
last few year and various other record of company

Primary data:
Primary data is a type of data that is collected by
researchers directly from main sources through interviews, surveys,
experiments, etc. Primary data are usually collected from the source—where
the data originally originates from and are regarded as the best kind of data in
research.

Secondary data:
Secondary data is research data that has previously been
gathered and can be accessed by researchers. The term contrasts with
primary data, which is data collected directly from its source.

Limitation of study:
Although i tried my best in preparation of this project ,but this study has some
limitation
1.The period of the project was not sufficient to study all factor in deep

2.Visiting various place for the study consumed a lot a time

3.Ramadan is the month were we muslim fast .While fasting i travel lot of
places in kumta and feel weakness in my body

Growing to be the best

Samsung is a technology conglomerate whose corporate mission

and vision statements focus on innovation for global societal
improvement through technological products. The company’s mission
statement indicates superiority, which implies excellence and
leadership in the semiconductors, electronics, and other markets. On
the other hand, Samsung’s vision statement promotes an inspiration-
focused strategic objective that makes the business an influencer
among people and societies around the world. Thus, the combination
of the corporate vision and mission statements creates the idea of a
technological conglomerate that aims for industry leadership and
global influence. In order to follow Samsung’s corporate mission and
corporate vision, the business organization must ensure competitive
advantages against major technology companies, including Apple,
Sony, Intel, Microsoft, and LG. This competitive landscape imposes
strong forces and strategic challenges that require high rates of
innovation and high quality standards in Samsung’s operations and
technological product development and design, as well as the
utilization of advanced technologies to support operations.

Customized product for Indian consumer

Samsung understands the local cultural sensibilities to customise its

product according to the Indian market. It has set up a "usability lab"
At the Indian institute of technology in New Delhi to customise
Samsung products to meet the specific need of Indian consumers .
This industry-institute partnership is helping samsung to study and
analyse consumer response is aspect of product design , including
aesthetics ergonomics and interface
Through its research on consumer preference in India,
Samsung has concluded that Indian consumers want more sound
oriented products. Thus, the Samsung televisions for India have a
higher sound capacity than their foreign counterparts.
For the semi-automatic segment of Samsung washing machines
,Samsung has introduced for the first time in india a feature called
Super Dry . It is present in three of samsung's semi-automatic
models and dries the clothes better than the rest
Samsung washing machines have an additional menu that
takes care of the local wadobes. They also have a memory restart
that takes care of the frequent power failure in india

Samsung in india has a presence in the following

1. Consumer electronics (CE)/ Audio visual(AV) Business
2. Home Appliance (HA) Business
3. Information technology (IT) business

Its operation are broadly divided into the following key sub-
function
● Sales and marketing
● Manufacturing
● Software Centre operation

1. Sales and Marketing function

Headquarter in New delhi,Samsung india has a network of 19
branches and 16 Areas sales office (ASOs) located all over the
country , and the number expected to grow, as the organisation
continues to expand to its horizon

The sales and Marketing fucntion at Samsung is primarily divided

into two categories:
● Sales and Marketing (IT)
● Sales & Marketing(AV/HA)

The manufacturing Function:

Samsung is reportedly looking to shift its Chennai facility and plans to
start importing TV units from Vietnam, it's largest production hub. As
per a ToI report, the company has already alerting its local suppliers
about its withdrawal plans. The Chennai-based TV manufacturing
plant of Samsung produces around 3 lakh units every year.

Ironically, the shifting plan has come come just months after joint
inauguration of its Noida facility by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
Korean President Moon Jae-in. The Noida facility was seen as a big
boost for the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

According to the report, the move comes after the Union government
introduced import duty on parts used in manufacturing TV panels.
The government, during the Union Budget, imposed an import duty
on "open cell", which is one of the most important parts of a TV
panel. Initially, a 10 per cent duty was imposed, which was later cut
down to half after protests from TV manufacturers.

The manufacturing capacities of the Samsung product

manufactured in India are:

PRODUCT CAPACITY DETAILS

CTV 1.5 Million Curved &Flat Tv
COLOUR 1.5 Million CRT & TFT LCD
MONITOR monitor
REFRIDGERATO 0.6 Million Frost-free and
R conventional
refrigerators
WASHING 0.5 Million Fully Automatic
MACHINE and semi
Automatic
AC 0.4 Million Window and split

Samsung has two manufacturing plants -- in Noida and in

Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu -- five R&D centres, and one design
centre in Noida, employing over 70,000 people and expanding its
network to over 1.5 lakh retail outlets. Established in 1995, Samsung
India laid the foundation stone of Noida plant next year. In 1997,
production commenced and the first television was rolled out. In
2003, refrigerator production began.

According to HC Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India, a bigger

manufacturing plant will help them cater to the growing demand for
Samsung products across the country. Samsung India, that
registered 27 per cent growth in mobile business revenue for the
financial year 2016-17 -- accounting for a whopping Rs 34,300 crore
of its reported Rs 50,000 crore sales - won't be able to hide the smile
when the new facility kicks off production from July 9.

The Software R & D centre

Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B) is the largest R&D

Center outside of South Korea and a key innovation hub in the
Samsung group.
With the best of talent from India and overseas, our focus is on
creating cutting edge technologies across multiple areas of

Conclusion
Through the SWOT analysis of Samsung, it is clear that the company
is still a global leader in chip making and smartphone brands. It has
always sustained sufficient revenue and profits as it progresses into
the future.

The primary challenge it has to face is cutting back on its

overreliance on the American markets and explore the potential to
operate in other markets. It needs to focus mainly on the Asian
continent that is developing at an exceeding rate. Its limited customer
base in the US is not reliable enough and may lead to limited
revenue and profits. That can become a persistent issue for the
company. They need to expand internationally and incorporate a new
consumer demographic to thrive.
