Policy Name: Shift Allowance and Compensatory Off Policy
Effective Till next revision based on Statute and management
From: 1st May 2022 Validity decision.
Purpose: This policy allows for extra compensation to non-exempt employees who are scheduled on a
regular, rotating or sporadic basis to work as per different time zones.
Scope: All permanent employees of Bits In Glass India.
1. Shift Allowance
Employee who are working in a different time zone other than the IST standard working hours will be
eligible for shift allowance.
Criteria for availing Shift Allowance:
1. Defined project requirement to work specific non-standard hours.
2. Request email initiated by the client.
3. Pre-approved by the account manager before starting to work in a project/ assignment in
writing and copying HR.
4. Minimum 4 hours of overlap with client time zone outside of general office hours.
5. Individual is working from office during the general office hours.
Procedure to avail Shift Allowance (if above criteria is completely met):
1. The employee needs to fill the shift allowance format for the preceding month.
2. Employee needs to fill the Shift Allowance sheet (refer Annexure A) and get approval from the
reporting manager.
3. Reporting manager needs to evaluate the shift allowance sheet as per timesheet submitted by
the employee on MYDSR portal and provide approval.
4. The employee needs to forward the manager approved email along with approved sheet to the
HR for processing by the 10th day of every month.
5. Based on employee data, HR shall process the shift allowance in subsequent month payroll
cycle.

Shift Allowance Eligibility
United Kingdom Shift (1:30 PM - 11:00 PM IST) INR 250/- per day
Night Shift (6:00 PM – 2:00 AM IST) INR 500/- per day
Weekend Work (if not opted for a compensatory off; As per actuals (individual’s paygrade)
minimum 5 hours of working)
2. Compensatory Off
Any employee who renders his/ her services during an off day / weekly off, shall be entitled for a
weekend allowance or a compensatory off.
Applicability for availing the same is minimum 5hours of working.
All compensatory offs to be availed within the timeframe of 60days starting from the date of
applicability.
Procedure to apply for compensatory off:
1. Employee needs to submit an approval from his/ her manager supporting the need for extra
working day a week in advance.
2. Employee to share the manager’s approval email with respective HR for further processing.
3. Employee to ensure same is reflected in timesheet.
4. In order to avail the compensatory off employee needs to apply for the same on DSR portal and
attach snapshot of the reporting manager approval email as evidence.
Howsoever, if any employee works on a National Holiday i.e. 26th January, 1st May, 15th August and
2nd October he/she will be entitled for additional payout as per respective labour laws.
Please note: Compensatory offs are to be availed within the same calendar year.
