DETAILED ITINERALY FOR THE DEVONSHIRE (X02)
Day 01:
19 may 11:
1815hrs arrival at Jomo Kenyatta airport from London on vs446, transport to Nairobi
Serena hotel for Dinner and over and night
Day 02:
20 may 11:
0630hrs: Breakfast at Nairobi Serena
0730hrs: we drive north through the town of Thika known for its beautiful pineapple
plantation.This is the home of the kikuyu community Kenya’s largest, they are known for
their devotion to the agriculture and are excelled in the business world.From thika we
pass through kartina town and has the biggest market in east Africa,we pass through
narumoro their we can se Mt Kenya very well and is the highest and Africa second at
5’189mts and visible during day time,Narumoro we go to nanyuki were we find the
aberdare rangers as you turn left the equator on the outskirt of nanyuki townand drive on
the earth road for half an hour into sweet water tented camp,we pass isiolo going toward
samburu and is covered 165sq km north of ewaso nyiro river.Vegetation consist of acacia
woodlands with bush grass and scrubland.There samburu samba we take our lunch and
leisure waiting for a game drive in the afternoon
1600hrs:we go for a game drive,samburu is one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya animal
found there are the big five eg leopard,elephant,buffalo,giraffle,and rhino in the
conservationaare as well the bird life.
1800hrs:we return to samburu samba and over night.
Day 03:
21 may 11:
0630hrs:a game drive,we embark through north and we explore this area further look out
for what we missed in our previous game drive.
0900hrs:we return to samburu samba for breakfast.
1230hrs:lunch at samburu sima and leisure as we wait for a game drive at evening.
1600hr:weembark on an evening drive ,we start a visit at buffalo spring national reserve
covering 131km,where the are low land plain,then shaba national reserve the third reserve
of the samburu complex beloved by joy admisonwho continued her work on
rehabilitating leopard to the wild then sshe was murderd there in 1980.
1930hrs:we go back for dinner and overnight at samburu samba.
Day 04:
22 may 11:
0630hrs: we embark on an early morninggame drive to explore this area further looking
out for what we missed in our previous game drive.
0830hrs:we return to samburu samba for breakfast .
0930hrs:we drive north down 215kmsto mountain lodge serena in nyeri,we pass through
narumoro the dirty town {meaning volcanic soil in maasai language}
1230hrs:we have lunch at serena mtn lodge and leisure as we wait for the dinner and
overnight at serena mtn lodge.
Day 05:
23 may 2011:
0730hrs:after breakfast we depart north we through nyeri,mwega and nyahururu fall
About 210 kmtoward nakuru in lake nakuru lodge.this county are spoit for a choice as to
which of the many attraction they should see.
1230hrs:we arrive at lake nakuru lodge for lunch and leisure as we wait for game at
afternoon.
1600hrs:we drive through Thomson falls,Kenya deppest {96mts} named after an
explorel,we go further south west into lake nakuru national park,in the park there over
450 bird species which have been recorded.The lake is a ranser site and have of over 2
million flamingoes.
It’s a rhino sanctuary,the endangered rothschild’s giraffle has found a safe haven
there.lake nakuru has the big five but for the elephant.
1930hrs:we embark for dinner and overnight at lake nakuru lodge.
Day 06:
24 may 2011:
0630hrs:early morning game drive to explore further the lake nakuru national park,for
other beautiful spots for visitor’s from all over the world including the heels gate.in the
park we can see buffalos,antelope,maasaigiraffes,hyenas,and leopard,zebras and gazelles
are among the animalat the park.it is a home as well to that rare klipspring antelope that
appear to walk on the tips of its toes.
0930hrs we go back for breakfast then lunch at 1230and leisure.
1600hrs: we embark for a game drive in he afretnoon in the lake nakuru national park.the
nakuru county has the largest revenue earner attracting thousand of visitors among
them parties of school children.park deputy senior warden joseph dadacha said the 188sq
km hosted 240,000 visitors lsat year half of them locals.
1930hrs:we embark for lakle nakuru lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 07:
25 may 2011:
0630hrs:early morning drive to exprole further in the park.
0900hrs:we embark for breakfast,departingat 1000hrs south east for lake naivasha ssimba
lodge 70km\h from nakuru countywhich means a dusty place and to its name the town is
renowned for the amountof dust.
1230hrs:we arrive at lake naivasha samba lodge for lunch and leisure followed by an an
afternoon,an optioanil boat ride,in the lake the crescent island on the lake is highly
recommended.bush backs,impalas,water bucks are found here not fergettingthe snoting
hippo,other activity includes swimming.
1930hrs:Dinner and overnight at lake naivasha samba lodge.
Day 08:
26 may 2011:
0630hrs:after breakfast we depart lake naivasha samba lodge for the maasai serena,we
pass through the small town of mai mahiu as so called maasai herder who were driving
their animal through the area to Nairobi. (mai mahiu) was derived from the exclamation
“impassable” becoz of the towering escarpment pronounced “ineimayu”through narok
the town of maasai on the back of narok river meaning salty water from narok on loita
plian panoramic view of the mara begin to unfold About 275km.
1300hrs:we arrive at the five star luxurious mara serena lodge for lunch and leisure.
