5 Output Devices
Output Device – An output device displays the product of the computer's processing of
raw data entered through an input device.
1. Printer - The processed data is printed on paper by a printer. It allows the user to print
images, text, or any other piece of data onto paper.
2. Projector - A projector is a type of output device that allows the user to project the
information onto a large surface, such as a huge screen or a wall. It can be linked to a
computer or other comparable devices in order to project their outputs onto a screen. It
expands texts, photos, and movies by using light and lenses. As a result, it is an excellent
output device for giving presentations or teaching a huge group of people.
3. Computer Speakers - Computer speakers are hardware devices that convert the sound
card signal from the computer into audio. Speakers generate sound by vibrating internal
amplifiers at different frequencies based on data from the computer. This generates an
output called sound.
4. GPS (Global Positioning System) - The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a radio-
based navigation system that consists of a sender computer and a receiver computer. The
sender sends signals to 24 satellites, which ping the sender's exact location in the form of
latitude and longitude coordinates. Microwave waves are used by the satellites to "speak" to
the GPS, conveying output information such as location, vehicle speed, and a variety of
other data.
5. Monitor - The monitor is the computer's display unit or screen. It is the primary output
device that shows the processed data or information in the form of text, graphics, audio, or
video.
5 Input Devices
Input Device – An input device is a hardware device that transmits data to a computer and
allows users to interact with and control it. Input devices are vital today because they allow
users to interact with and add new data to a computer.
1. Keyboard - The keyboard is one of the computer's most obvious input devices. It works
in the same way that typewriters do. The keyboard is intended for entering text numbers
and characters. Users complete all of the writing work on the computer simply through
utilizing a keyboard.
2. Scanner - A scanner is an input device that functions similarly to a photocopier. It is
utilized when information is available on paper and needs to be transferred to the
computer's hard disk for further manipulation.
3. Microphone - A microphone, abbreviated as mic, is a hardware accessory and input
device designed by Emile Berliner in 1877. A microphone allows computer users to record
and input audio and play it back on their computers.
4. Bar Code Readers - A BCR (barcode reader) or scanner, often known as a POS (point of
sale) scanner, is a piece of input hardware that can scan a barcode with a laser. It can also
load product details or log information about that product into a database. A supermarket
barcode scanner, which reads and records the price of a product, is an example of a
barcode reader.
5. Mouse - A computer mouse is a handheld hardware input device that controls a pointer
in a graphical user interface (GUI) on the computer for pointing, moving, and selecting text,
icons, files, and folders.
