Cronbachs-Alpha Output With Interpretation

Cronbach's alpha was calculated to measure the reliability of an 8-item perceived task value questionnaire. The overall Cronbach's alpha value was 0.81, indicating good reliability. Item analysis identified item 4 as potentially problematic as it had low inter-item and item-total correlations. Removing item 4 would increase Cronbach's alpha to 0.83, providing a more reliable scale. In conclusion, most items can be retained but removing item 4 should be considered to further improve the questionnaire's reliability.

Interpretation:

This table shows that item 4 is problematic since the r-value (encircled in red) is consistently low thus the
removal of the question should be considered.

Interpretation:

This table shows the two important columns, the Corrected item -Total correlation and Cronbach’s Alpha if
the item is deleted. This implied that deletion of item 4 will result on the increase of Cronbach’s alpha to
α=0.83.

Overall Interpretation

A questionnaire was answered by 100 participants and the agreeableness subscale on perceived task value
consisting of 8 items was found to be reliable (α = .81). The Cronbach’s alpha showed that most items can be
retained. However, the removal of item 4 should be considered to increase the alpha to α=0.83.
