workshop entitled “District Webinar on Research in the New Normal” at Concepcion East District,
Concepcion, Tarlac on January 27-29, 2021.

I. TITLE: District Webinar on Research in the New Normal

II. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COVERED:
Domain: 1 Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
Strand: 2. Research-based knowledge and principles of teaching and learning
Indicator: 1.2.4 Lead colleagues in the advancement of the art and science of
teaching based on their comprehensive knowledge of research and pedagogy.
III. BACKGROUND/ RATIONALE:
Department of Education aims to capacitate teachers in conducting researches that
can be of help in solving classroom-based problems or even in a wider range of scope
and limitations. Based from the Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act
10533 also known as “Enhanced Education Act of 2013”, section 10.2 (h), it states that
“The curriculum shall be flexible enough to enable and allow schools to localize,
indigenize, and enhance the curriculum based on their respective educational and social
contexts”. Educational researches play vital role to support the fulfillment of the
curriculum.
There is a wrong notion about conducting an educational research. The conduct of

research in the Department of Education (DepEd) is a lot simpler than writing theses
and dissertations in the Graduate Studies. It is possible to conduct educational studies
while being faced with voluminous schoolworks, especially during this time of
pandemic. It is imperative to conduct researches on how to improve the school learning
delivery modalities and teachers’ interventions, innovations, and alternative work plans
to cater the needs of the learners in delivering quality education. In fact, the process is
simple. Teachers only need guidance in doing so.
In this initiative, the participants will be trained to write educational research

studies. The main objective is to at least help them prepare their research proposals that
will be submitted to the Division Office for acceptance.
IV. TRAINING OBJECTIVES

2. The participants were familiarized with the different parts of a research.
3. There were suggested topics, new research agenda, and themes for the new normal
provided for the participants.

5. The different statistical tools and methodologies were discussed and reviewed.
6. Participants had a motivation and an interest in submitting research proposals for
acceptance.

C. Training Description and Components

The project training is entitled District Webinar on Research in the New Normal
which aims to orient and guide teachers in conceptualizing educational research. The
proponent believes that teachers only need guidance and training in conducting
researches for them to initiate such for the learners’ improvement and development.
The district webinar on research in the new normal will be implemented

through Google Meet, an online platform which provides chat, voice and presentation
and videoconferencing features that can accommodate 100 participants.
In order to join the webinar, participants are required to have the following:
desktop, laptop or smartphone (any of these), headset with microphone, and high-speed
internet connection.
A Certificate of Participation will be given to participants who will be able

to complete the three-day webinar. This webinar is free of charge.

XI. MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Monitoring will be on going throughout the webinar. All participants are enjoined
to attend the training-workshop and are highly encouraged to participate during the
discussion and activities. The proponent will monitor the conduct of the said webinar
through Google Meet.
There will be an evaluation every session with focus on the following areas of
concern: a. conduct of the sessions; b. program management; and, c.
trainers/facilitators/resource speakers.
The outputs of the webinar will be collated to be submitted to the District Office as
reference for improvement of the next trainings.

At the end of the webinar, the participants are expected to:
1. Acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in writing an educational action/applied

research.
2. Appreciate the value/importance of research in improving learners’ performance.
3. Get familiar with the different parts of an action/applied research by incorporating them
on their studies.
4. Conduct proper and ethical procedures in conducting an action/applied research.
5. Conceptualize and use the new/harmonized research themes and agenda in deriving a
research topic under the new normal
6. Use the appropriate statistical tools and methodologies in their research proposals or
reports.
7. Submit research proposals for acceptance in the Schools Division Office.
