ABSTRACT
Robotic process automation is the most discussed automation areas which is known to people
right now.The productivity tool allows people to go through one or more tools which aloows
them to access well established IT process. There are a lot of misconceptions about it people
think that it will solve all kind sof automation needs but in reality we must understand that
alone will never yield results. In 2020 we have seen a major change or a shift in the thinking
of people and their perception towards automation.Through a long time people have worked
hard towards a need to make work more streamlined and easy.Automation has also helped
standalone platforms to contribute more efficiently towards mankind.Hyper-Automation
offers a complete set to users by letting them discover, design, build and enhance various
features for a broad range of uses and functions.across various domains.Hyper-Automation is
a one in all i.e it is a combination of various technologies like Artificial

INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS HYPER AUTOMATION?

Hyper-Automation refers to an amalgamtion of various set of tools which are always

complementary to each other that can add functional processes to automate and add much
more values to different processes.Hyper-automation combines different automation
process, tools to integrate and technologies that acts as a catalyst to boost the overall ability
for business processes.

Hyper-Automation starts with RPA as its core tool and expands its automation process with
AI,analytics, data mining and other advanced tools. The addition of all these tools enable faster
process for redesigning, automation and monitor projects and deliver them with a lot more
value and impact.

Hyper-Automation provides a lot of benefits over other automative technologies ,it indulges
to make various process automatic much faster, using analytics which is advanced and which
provides the employee a level of satisfaction and motivation.

Hyper-Automation does not just mean to use certain tools to do some task or manage some
work, humans play a very important role in decision making and humans use this technology
for data interpretation and apply data logic.

1
HISTORY AND COMMERCIALIZATION

Industries have faced some of the most important changes in the precious years that led them
to look in a different manner and forced human to invent a new way of working to adapt and
also evolve with the coming time.

Humans have boosted innovation and have taken steady steps towards a growth in the
technology and these factors have led in shaping automation to a higher level across the
world and develop industries.

The first industrial revolution was introduced by mechanisation in various powered

industries. The seacond industrial revolution was almost one century later made a major road
for major technological advancement. In various industries such as medicine, hard ware
industries and also helped in the emergence of various sources of energy such as
energy,electricity,gas and oil.

After exploring these mega industries people wanted to explore the minor i.e smaller
components hence it led to the beginning of 3rd industrial advancement and it bought forward
the rise of electronics and tele-communication and the most important computers which
accelerated industrial growth like nothing else.

4.0 industry is the latest age for various exponential potentials.Every passing seacond are
pushing industries to evolve and develop to new levels.Klaus Schwab the founder of world
economic forum demonstrated about the fourth economic forum that the fourth economic
forum will not only change who we are but also what we do.
It will also effect peoples identity and the issues related in a better way.

Hyper-Automation have not been used historically in common places but it has generated a
huge amount of interest among people after it was identified by Gartner.

2
Hyper-Automation does not have a lot of history as it has comeup in these recent years. The
change from Automation to Hyper-Automation has guided a new way for business operation
that would depend upon hyper-automation tools to msintain to maintain its competition with
various other advanced technologies.

The most important tool used in Hyper-Automation which is the RPA has emerged during the
2000s but its initial development stated during 1990

Machine Learning which is a very important technology that helped innovation was
developed during 1959 by Arthur Samuel which led to the creation of RPA.

In 2020 when Corona virus emerged Hyper-Automation was majorly discussed to help in the
transition of business and remote work.

UI path ins had announced that it has used hyper-automation as the core of its release box set.

Hyper-Automation was named as one of the best technology trends of 2020 and it will be
helping mankind on a next level in the coming future because while normal automation just
delivers projects at a faster rate hyper automation increases the time and also reduces human
effort while doing a particular work.

Although Automation was invented during 1946 that too in the automobile industry too
describe how the use of automatic devices increased in production lines.

Slowly after the usage of first automation led to the growth in production lines and slowly
fixed automation, programmable automation and flexible automation also came up and all
these factors led to the creation of Hyper-Automation.

3
COMMERCIALIZATION

Commercialization of Hyper-Automation was introduced in Nov 19,2019 by Alberta which

included core services like Alpha Automation,Alpha Labs and Alpha Analytic.

The precised Alpha-Automation significantly increases the value of its drilling rig fleet and it
has 32 fleets deployed in U.S and Canada.Alpha Automation systems are sold at commercial
rates and they are expecting over 90% returns.

The main component of Alpha Automation is the Open Platform which was basically
designed to organise a lot of drilling applications.

Precision have also partnered with various industries and added its portfolio of growth.

The word Hyper-Automation is quite common now-days and it takes a huge forward growth
from 2004 to 2019 and its also one of the most trending words in google.

People always have a questions as why Hype-Automation is in the spotlight to answer this we
have three reasons

1) People have shown a huge interest towards RPA and its use in the
commercial world.

2) The advancement in modern tools and their uses are also a reason
behind why Hyper_Automation is in the spotlight.

3) The upcomimng of the pandemic due to the corona virus also

seemed to be the prefect timing of Hyper-Automation where people
came to know the real need fo automation .

4
FUNDAMENTALS OF TOPIC

Hyper-Automation ecosystem

Figure1

Hyper-Automation refers to the addition of tools with various machine learning a

Apps and various software used to deliver a certain work.

Robotic process automation is one of the most important technologies used by people used to
drive hyper-automation.The other technologies involved in Hyper-Automation are Intelligent
business process management suites and integration platform and different business
management systems.

Together these tools provide a strong toolbox of .technologies that enable

hyper-Automation although the RPA market is facing quite a few disturbances as a lot is
spent on the Research and Development part to streamline services and redefine offerings
with a wide reach, various models are coming up rapidly to redefine the market. This will lead
to the action of inspiring something that is beyond Robotic Process Automation.

5
CLASSIFICATION OF HYPER AUTOMATION
ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION

Figure2

Robotic Process Automation is a combination of various integrated technologies used to

automate tasks which are performed in a routine or everyday without any random breaks.

Robotic Process Automation helps organizations to go through their digital

transformations. Some top functions of RPA includes service to customers, accounting, health
care department and various other departments like supply chain management.

A Few Highlights of RPA consist of the following:-

-Provide better customer service

-Enable better operations in business

- Create savings for tasks which are

repetitive.

- Makes employees more

productive

6
-Allows different functions to
complete more faster and in an
efficient manner

PROCESS MINING

Figure3

In the above figure we see how process mining works it was designed to discover, implement
and improve various process by drawing out knowledge from different event schedule which
are already available in various applications.

It includes discovery of various automated processes and different advanced analytic features
by bringing together problems related to RPA.

A Few Highlights of Process Mining consist of the following-

-it provides different intelligent support for enhancement of model by
data driven insights.

-Identify various wastefulness at a very micro level and correct them

7
-Generate automatically various simulation models

-Conduct analysis to the root for faster recovery.

Artificial Intelligence

Figure4

Arificial Intelligence is a very good way to initiate automation of processes and come-up with
robotic abilities.
The most common areas where AI applications is used are different types of management
processed like incident management, case management, contract management and other legal
processes.

A Few Highlights of AI consist of:-

-OCR(optical character recognition) was used in AI to
extract text from various documents and texts.
-NLP(natural language processing) analysed
structured and both unstructured documents for various
kinds of analysis.

8
-Chatbots apply NLP to interact with users and now a
lot of companies use chatbot to solve various customer
related issues.

IBPMs

Intelligent BPM suites have a strong layout of tools to conduct processes and automate tasks
within the processes. They take part in integrating processes, orchestration of tools, and kinds
of advanced analytic into a single platform.
The right coordination and efficiency is needed to unify applications, bots and people to make
sure that the results are planned.

Figure5

Advanced Analytics

It is an examination of data or important content autonomously or semi-autonomously using

tools and techniques which are quite sophisticated and which are mostly beyond traditional
business intelligence to come out with a bigger insight, predictions and make certain
recommendations

9
Working principle of Hyper-Automation

Figure6

The working principle of Hyper-Automation is that it works on a concept which involves the
use of an ecosystem of advanced technologies which itself works on automation to make
greater use of human enterprises.

The aim of Hyper-Automation is to increase the use of automation in every field of human
resource so that more organization can use data and insights to take decision making on a
next level.

This emerging concept has different names and Forrester calls it as digital process automation
and IDC calls it intelligent process automation.

10
WORKING TECHNOLOGY

Figure7

Hyper-automation does not just refer to one single technology or tool rather
hyper-automation keeps on adding more intelligence and to apply a wide set of tools than
what was used in the past.

Theorytically we know that no technology can ever replace human-beings,hyper-automation

requires to combine many tools to encourage organizations to make strategic ways so that
humans can derive the maximum benefits from these technologies.which they can use in their
business and it could automate, simplify and manage work processes across various
enterprises.

Hyper-Automation allows business experts and also the workers on the front line with very
little ability to code or absolutely no ability to automate low-level tasks.

Hyper-automation oftern creates a digital twin of the organization. When a product or

workflow is represented virtually a DTO enables people to visualize, the key performances of
the process.

Traditional automation just involves using of artificial intelligence and a few robotic devices
which are programmed to perform a specific tasks. The international society of automation
elaborates it as crating technologies to control the delivery and production of services.

Hyper-automation though focussed on two side of the coin it incorporated AI and also
automated tools and when it was combined it could solve more complex tasks with a little bit

11
of human effort the entire work process is kept known and everything happens in a
streamlined manner

It has also been stated that within the next three years almost 60 percentage of those
organizations that use RPA as the sole technology will be introducing Artificial Intelligence
and natural language processing also into their firms.

DELIVERY APPROACH OF HYPER-AUTOMATION

We all know that during this corona virus pandemic had an impact on how technology
solutions will be delivered which led people to re-think and design an approach
to deliver them, despite having hyper-automation this time it was really difficult.

So the first approach towards delivery of Hyper-Automation is imagination- We need to

identify the right option and oppurtunity for automation and redesign functions to make the
maximum benefit and also to go for a deeper check to finalise a platform for
hyper-automation.

The 2nd step is the delivery,in this step an automation solution is made and developed and
then it is delivered on a suitable environment.

The last step is Run,this phase will determine that how a organization will benefit under these
circumstances and mentioned in the specific business cases.

12
Figure8

CHARACTERISTICS OF HYPER-AUTOMATION

There are 4 key charateristics of Hyper-Automation :-

1) Congruous services and products- Hyper-Automation always involves

continuous product and service development and delivery.

2) More valuable product and services- The quality of productds and services
play a very major role and Using Hyper-Automation always leads to top notch
product quality.

3) Very less inaccuracy in the chain of supply- Hyper-Automation excludes

error in the chain of supply and delivery.

13
4) Data used effectively- Data is used more effectively throughout the
business processes and also delivered in an effective manner.

FUTURE OF AUTOMATION

The real power of intelligence comes to hand when Robot process automation
comes together with Artificial intelligence that goes beyond normal terms to
innovate things,
From collecting data to processing it and making important decisions.

But when a survey was made by Harvard Business review it was found that
about 46 percent of respondents don’t even think about listening and using
intelligent automation techniques in their business.whereas the other-lot
responded positively in using ML and AI in their business.

The potential in using Hyper-Automation is huge we all know that those things
which couldn’t be solved yesterday but using human intelligence can be solved
now-days using various digital techniques.

Just like the way the structure of electronic devices grew complex in the
growing time different automative technologies also are growing exponentially
so we also hope that in the coming future maximum percentage of the big
firms and companies include Hyper-Automation in their business processes.

However with the industrial Revolution 4.0 most of the industries want to
change their core business operations and include automation processes in their
but it will still take around 4-5 years .

Hyper-Automation is a mixture of various complementing automation

techniques used together and it makes everything much more easier.

14
ADVANTAGES OF HYPER-AUTOMATION

Hyper-Automation provides a lot of advantages such as:-

1) Improve the productivity of employee- Hyper-Automation plays a major role

in improving the quality of the employees and and also makes their work more
stream lined so that they can be more productive and indulge in delivering
better services and products.

2) Incorporation-With Hyper-Automation many firms can include

Hyper-Automation and integrate additional digital methods across their
processes also stakeholders can access the data in a better way.

3) Improve ROI- Hyper-Automation reduces the cost of production and also

increases revenue so with a lot of analytical tools large firms can optimize their
resources.

4) Flexibility-Organizations can move towards a flexible usage of automation

by introducing Hyper-Automation which wound not limit them to the use of a
single technology.

5) Agility-Business process does not requires to rely on a single process or tool

for automation purposes even organizations need to change the technology used
with the changing world.

15
DISADVANTAGES OF HYPER-AUTOMATION
Although Hyper-Automation has a very few disadvantages but there are a lot of
challenges which need to be faced

The challenges in AI in automation includes:-

1) inclusion of personal data or data unavailability- There is a risk of privacy

breach when some personal information is shared with AI vendors.

2) Biased information- AI systems might contain biased data which might be

embedded previously through an algorithm.

3) Data creation can be slow- Data generation can be slow at some cases during
data creation.

Challenges faced during Process simplification:-

1) Lack of understanding in processes- Most of the processes are not well

simplified and requires more documentation.

2) Specification of customer needs:- Specific customer demands need to made

in a specific manner and this increases the complexity of the process hence
companies needs to balance between consumer satisfaction and simplification
of processes.

Organizational challenges faced by Hyper-Automation- A lot of potential

challenges are faced during project delivery and hence it leads to the slow
adoption of automation.

16
APPLICATIONS OF RPA:-
1) To onboard customer, employee and vendor- A lot of processes which
includes a lot of paper work, physical labour and communicating medium
between two companies so with RPA a complete automated process of
on-boarding can be created.

2) Maintenance of vendor, employee and customer- Similar to on-boarding

process employees also needs to be maintained and updated whether the
customer is applying for an address change or a vendor needs to sign an
e-contract.

3) Report amalgamation- For report amalgamation physically a lot of human

labour is required but these processes can be made easy by including RPA.

4) Processing orders- Order Processing can take a lot of worthy human time
which can be used for other important factors and it can be made Automated by
using RPA.

5) Shipment and tracking- Updating and scheduling between various internal

portals is quiet a hectic manual job and the price paid for these jobs are quite
less.

6) CRM updates- Working through the day with data entry and updating the
CRM is not in anyone’s to do list yet this information is always critical and
needs to be done properly.

17
APPLICATIONS OF MACHINE LEARNING

1) Traffic Alerts- We all know how Machine Learning can be used for traffic
alerts just like google maps to get the direction of a place or public place uses
ML.

2Communication- We all use various sources of applications to books cabs and

other modes of travel just like Uber and Ola cabs which used very often world
wide.

3) Self-Driven cars- Tesla the leading manufacturer of electric cars are the new
future of self driven cars and it is also very eco-friendly as no amount of fossil
fuel is being waster to drive.

4) Automated Pricing- ML is also used for dynamic pricing when the price is
not fixed and varies depending upon a variety of conditions.

5) google Translate- Any language in this world can be understood using google
translate which makes communication so much easier and simpler.

6) Online video streaming- We all know different kinds of platform which does
online video streaming like Netflix,Hotstar, and a lot of other platforms uses
ML for video streaming.

18
IMPLEMENTATION OF HYPER-AUTOMATION

Document Based Processes-

- Specific emails or files are sent to certain business for some specific action

-Information are extracted by RPA bots

-Certain ML models identify and understand the situation and verifies it.

-If it is found that the confidence rate of ML is low then human might intervene
in between.

- The actions are performed by RPA bots.

In this processes the incoming mails or attachment is collected by RPA bots

after that the document id extracted by a Machine Learning model which takes
out the read able data from it.

Payable Accounts-

Accounts Payable includes paying out invoices from those customers who
provided certain goods or services to a particular company.

It was includes for reasons like manually processing those payments are
expensive, a lot of time will be consumed and moreover there will be risk of
errors if it is done manually.

19
Travel and expenses
- Travel expenditures includes a lot of manual paper work and it is made very
much easier now days due to hyper-automation.Some T&E processes where
Hyper-Automation is included are:-
. Travel expense paper receipt collection
. To extract data from receipts
.Checking complaints from customers using chat bots.

Customer service operations

- There are about three technologies which are involved in end to end
automation are - NLP
-Machine Learning algo
-RPA or chat bots.

Prevent Money Laundering-

To prevent fraud transactions some companies have also implemented End to
end AML solutions
RPA bots collect and analyse data to identify records
The Fraud detection models finds out whether there are any fraud in
transactions
Finally the follow up actions are also performed by RPA bots.

20
INDUSTRY SPECIFIC IMPLEMENTATIONS
Insurance claims handling

The whole claims handling process are automated and it is done completely
without human intervention. The claims are taken by RPA chat bots and
documents are verified then it identifies whether they are in line with the
customer’s policy and finally the payments are settled via both sides.

Banking

Loan underwriting can be automated with RPA and ML.

Data needs to be collected via internal and external sources
Certain fields are required to be filled by internal systems.
ML models can assess the risks.
From the historical transactions of the customer a certain amount of loan will be
provided.

KYC Registration

Customer On-Boarding is a very crucial thing in today’s world; The steps

include-verification,screening,reporting and account activation.

Latest Technology Under Research

Although Hyper-Automation is a very recent concept and a lot is still yet to be

unfolded there are three concepts which are under research now:-

Democratization-

Easy access to automation applications and zero cost training are the main
implementations of Democratization.

21
Their path have extended from Uipath Studio,Ui-path orchestra and Ui-robots to
an end to end automation. That helps customer in certain ways like
discovering, building, managing, run and engage their automation lifestyle.

Platformization-

Companies are building various marketplace where different kinds of

transactions will take place like software platformization where a company
builds a certain tools and shares it with other companies to use it.

Ecosystem Growth-

Ecosystem growth is a very important in this decade just like the smart city in
UAE which has improvised various automation models like smart car and
reduced the city’s pollution level to to a very low level,so knowing the adverse
effects of pollution this kinds of cities would be very much beneficial for
mankind.

22
VIEWS ABOUT THE TOPIC
1) The first question that comes in everyone’s mind is that how quickly can
Hyper-Automation be implemented ?

-If we look at the current scenario and the speed at which technology is
upgrading and we might need a different time scale because a year seems like a
decade ago although RPA buyers were happy as more customers seems to favor
RPA and use it for their own company.How-ever for a large scale automation
goal it would still take for about 4-5 years to completely understand the benefits
of RPA and use it.

2) How do an organization brings changes with Hyper-Automation?

-This is one of the most asked questions because an organizational cannot

immediately change its process of any particular items or goods from a manual
way to an automated process.

3) Is Hyper-Automation or RPA safe ?

-Security is a very important factor when it comes to producing services or

deliveries using automated products. So Organizations and firms would first
make sure that there shouldn’t be any security risk involved.

4) Can Hyper-Automation help us in the time of crisis?

-We have all faced an year of crisis during the corona virus pandemic and we
also know how much automation have helped us during this year and most
importantly health care had so many benefited from it.

23
5)People also ask if Robot Automated process might work in any software
applications

- So the answer is yes because RPA is very volatile and works in maximum of
the software applications.or in any interface.

6)Can RPA be implemented for a long time use-age ?

-Although RPA robots are implemented for a short time use and its done
particularly for a specific task but these bots can be changed so it wont be a big
deal.

7) How do organizations start with Hyper-Automation?

- A few steps needs to be followed to get started with Hyper-Automation so

the first step is IT firms needs to get in touch with automation experts and needs
to consult with them and build a business case then identify the best partner of
automation and start using it.

24
CONCLUSION

In conclusion I would like to state that Hyper-Automation is not just an

application or software Hyper-Automation for me is making a task more firm
and easy using more than one tool of automation for example different firms
and organizations use various set of automation and using that has a lot benefits
as it has been recognized to learn business process to improve their technique
and delivery.

Hyper-Automation also has several benefits which needs to be addressed as

well like it improves the productivity of employees, reduces cost of production
reduces human effort, improves ROI and moreover it is more flexible and agile
to be used but we should not forget about the few dis-advantages of
Hyper-Automation and those needs to be taken care of because if there are risks
like breach of personal security or biased or slow information people would
think twice before implementing it.

So finally I would like to state that Hyper-Automation is indeed the future of

mankind and it needs to implemented for the various benefits it provides
mentioned that other aspects are taken care of and looked after.
