IPL VISUALIZATION

ASSIGNMENT
IPL: Indian Premier League
◦ The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league, contested by eight
teams based out of eight different Indian cities.
◦ The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007.
◦ It is usually held between March and May of every year and has an exclusive window in the ICC
Future Tours Programme.
◦ The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world.
Data Understanding

◦ We are given two text files containing important data on IPL statistics namely:
◦ deliveries.csv: file contains ball-by-ball information for all the matches across all the seasons of IPL. Each row in this data
set contains:
• Match related information (batting team vs bowling team)
• Player information (Bowler, Batsman, Non-striker)
• Delivery information (Runs scored, Wickets, Extras, etc.)
◦ matches.csv: file contains the following data:
• Teams involved
• Results (which team won, win type, player of the match, etc.)
• Match specifics (umpires, ground, etc.)
◦ By creating a Join in tableau through ID and match_id we then proceed to perform the visualisations
Match Statistics- Insights
◦ Biggest Wins by Runs- Mumbai India has the biggest win by runs followed closely by
Royal Challengers Bangalore, I have filtered out the top 10 teams for ease of the
viewer.
◦ Win by Wickets: The Win by Wickets distribution is also displayed in a bar chart format.
◦ Highest Totals: As can be viewed from the slide we can observe that Chennai Super
Kings forms the top bracket with the highest total of 246 runs in 2010.
◦ Toss Vs Outcome: Using a calculated field on toss winner and outcome we
can arrive at an understanding of what toss decisions the teams make at
different Venues.

most wickets season wise. Harbhajan Singh is a Top contender overall.
◦ Orange Cap Contenders: Selected Top 10 contenders among batsmen who have
