Hi Hannah,
How are you? How’s school? I can’t believe we arrived in Australia three months ago! I’m sorry
I didn’t have a chance to see you before we left, but let me tell you about our new life here.
We flew to Adelaide and then took a train to Sydney because we wanted to see some of the
country. Dad has a job as an engineer in a big company in the city centre, so we’re in a house
near the harbour. Mum isn’t working at the moment, but she wants to find a job.
My life is very different now. As it’s December, it’s very hot, so I go to the beach every
afternoon after school. Everyone is very friendly, so I’m quite happy. You know I love sport, so
this is the perfect life! At the weekends I usually meet up with friends and we go to the park or
the local shopping centre.
The food is fantastic here! There are lots of international restaurants – you can even get fish
and chips! When we’re all at home, we usually eat in the garden because it’s so hot. I don’t
think Mark likes it here very much because he doesn’t like the weather and he misses his
friends, but we’re here for two years, so he can’t go back home.
I hope you can come and visit us and we can take you to different places. There are so many
interesting things to do here!
Write soon and tell me how you are.
Love,
Emily
