Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Since the pandemic was still ongoing, all schools were closed to prevent face-to-

face communication and interaction. Because that is why all schools are closed, all

teachers felt a collective sense of uncertainty as a result of Covid-19, as well as the

emphasis on providing quality online instruction. It will be difficult to ensure that children

are not apprehended and are returned within a month of the closure. In these difficult

circumstances, a straightforward intervention may be the most effective.

In this study, we would like to see if giving digital instruction is quite as effective as

giving traditional instruction verbally or on paper. Also we would like to have to know if

students can correctly and appropriately follow digital instructions. We also want to

know if all students, especially in today's generation, are following digital instructions by

using technology. Although we are aware that not everyone is fully competent in using

technology, they lack the knowledge to follow digital instructions, going to affect others.

In this research, we also want to know if the use of technology and digital

instructions has an impact on today's generation or learning trend, so that we can

determine if each individual is gaining knowledge, a positivity, and discipline.

Researchers want to know how much of an impact digital instruction can have on

whether students are sincerely gaining knowledge and obtaining high or deserving

grades in their subjects.

Researchers want to know or start communicating whether teachers understand

whether teaching with technology and digital instructions has an impact on their

students, to see if they are learning, and whether the instructions they give to their

students are clear. Students are utilizing technology.

To address this study, researchers will conduct a survey of students at San Juan

City Academic Senior High School to determine how digital instructions affect their

studies and whether they are gaining or increasing their knowledge. So that they can

get the grades they desire or demand. Because some of their students do not receive

high grades because they do not understand the digital instructions given to them by

their teacher, they continue to receive low grades in their subjects.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The purpose of this research is to examine the efficiency of digital instructions in

achieving satisfactory grades in Entrepreneurship of General Academic Strand Grade

12 students at San Juan City Academic Senior High School.

Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions:

1. Are digital instructions more effective on attaining satisfactory grades?

2. Are digital instructions more effective than traditional instructions that are printed on

paper or presented verbally?

3. Can proper and clear digital instruction reduce the likelihood of a student receiving

bad marks?

RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

The researchers want to determine how efficient digital instructions are in helping

chosen General Academic Strand students at San Juan City Academic Senior High

School attain a satisfactory grade in Entrepreneurship. The researchers hypothesize

that there is a positive relationship between digital instructions and attaining satisfactory

grades.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This research will be conducted to determine the effectiveness of Digital

Instructions in achieving satisfactory grade in Entrepreneurship at San Juan City

Academic Senior High School’s General Academic Strand Grade 12. It is important to

conduct this research study in order to determine whether digital instructions are

effective in helping students achieve satisfactory grade.

The Students

Students will have knowledge about the importance and effectiveness of digital

instructions in attaining satisfactory grade. They will be informed that they need to have

a good comprehension in digital instructions in getting a satisfactory grade.

The Teachers

As they read this study, they will notice that various students have varied

interpretations of the digital instructions. Because digital instructions are being used this

school year, they will be aware that technical errors can occur when students are taking

the exam.

The Future Researchers

Future researchers will have access to pertinent information, ideas, and

explanation. Future researchers could improve the investigation and assessment of

satisfactory grade of digital instructions in systematic reviews.

The benefit of this study is that it ensures that all students have enough

knowledge of digital instructions in order for them to receive a satisfactory grade. They

will be able to determine how effective digital instructions in achieving a satisfactory

grade.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The study aims to identify the effectiveness of Digital Instructions in attaining

confined to the General Academic Strand and the current school year 2021-2022, and

will not cover any other strand population or school year. The focus of the research will

be on the effectiveness of digital instructions in attaining Satisfactory Entrepreneurship

Grades. The purpose of the research is to see how helpful Digital Instructions are in

helping students achieve Satisfactory Grades.

DEFINITIONS OF TERMS

Digital Instructions - This is our main topic in this study, to find out if digital instruction

is much more effective than the traditional instruction or are they just the same.

Satisfactory Grade - We used this as a reference to compare the traditional instruction

and the digital instruction.

Attaining - This is used to see if students will be able to attain satisfactory remarks by

giving them digital instruction.

Traditional Instructions - where instruction is given verbally or written in a paper.

Chapter 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Foreign Related Literature

Digital Instructions is a strategy that is timely and relevant to this day. In an

article of The Governor's Office of Student Achievement (2021) they define digital

instructions as "Learning facilitated by technology that gives students some element of

control over time, place, path and/or pace."

According to Crawford-Ferre and Wiest’s (2012) article, online education has

emerged as a popular alternative to face-to-face classroom instruction. It provides

educational opportunities to individuals with geographic, time, or other constraints that

make postsecondary education difficult or impossible to pursue and another option to

those who prefer online learning’s flexibility and instructional delivery method. Many

institutions also view online instruction as a viable method to provide quality instruction

at a reduced cost (Garbett, 2011), with some studies finding online instruction to be

more successful than traditional instruction (Angiello, 2010; Angiello & Natvig, 2010).

However, in an online environment it can be difficult for students and instructors

to engage effectively if there are not intentional and informed steps taken to promote it.

Online learners may need more help understanding the expectations set forth by the

instructor because of the lack of face to face explanation and organic question/answer

time. To guard against student frustration and failure, rubrics, scoring guides, or

assessment scales are an even more valuable tool for the online instructor. In

addition to ensuring the clear presentation and understanding of expectations, these

tools add objectivity to grading so that grades are fair both in reality and perception.

(Korn, nd).

And according to Singh and Stoloff (2007), 68 percent of respondents believed

that they learned as much in this online class as they would have in a similar face-to-

face class. They also found that the quality of their online learning was comparable to

that of a similar face-to-face class. Seventy-two percent of respondents said they valued

getting to know new people, the instructor of this online class, and that they felt

sufficiently connected to the instructor.

Local Related Literature

The online learning modality seemed to be demanding and stressful to some

learners as there is a sudden shift from the traditional face-to-face learning modality

(Cabansag, [Link], 2020). There are changes and adjustment needed when the

education system shifted from traditional to online. Since according to Villanca's (2016)

article states that teachers often provided differentiated instructions through the learning

environment, process, content and product in their day-to-day activities with the pupils

during classroom instructions.

Through the related literature from David and Sta. Maria (2020), they indicated

though none of the methods stood out to be better than the other, the study has shown

Schools Division of San Juan City

Dr. A. Ejercito St. Cor. Jose Gil St., Brgy. Tibagan, San Juan City

that online learning resources can substitute for the use of the said drills and lead the

learners to attain the same learning outcomes.

Foreign Related Studies

In the study of Burke and Carrol (2010), online education has been the fastest

growing segment of higher education. Because it is so unlike traditional classroom-

based instruction, many questions have been raised as to the quality of the education

offered in the online modality. Digital instructions might be efficient than traditional

instructions, however, the extent of the effect may be limited by teachers' ability to

effectively use digital learning tools and resources to achieve learning outcomes. Even

so, their findings is students in online learning conditions performed modestly better

than those receiving face-to-face instruction.

Local Related Studies

According to Lorico, et. al's study (2021),The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-

19) pandemic has dramatically changed the higher education system in the Philippines

with a distinctive shift in online instruction as an effort to limit further transmission of the

virus. This sudden change to online instruction raised concern among many teachers

and students because a large segment of the population have unstable internet access

and limited electronic devices (Pastor, 2020; Mirandilla-Santos, 2016). Also, several

studies have shown that technology integration have been affecting academic

excellence and the quality of the delivery instructions by the teachers (Francisco &
