TASK 3: ESSAY

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD COMMUNICATION AND ITS PURPOSES IN ACADEMIC SET UP

Communication is the process of transmitting information and gaining knowledge from one another. All
communication carries a message. Message can be in the form of information, a directive, an enquiry, a feeling, an
opinion, an idea, or in any other form. Communication can occur only when there is commonness of understanding
between the sender and the receiver. The commonness includes factors like common culture, common language,
and common environment. Words, phrases, idioms, proverbs, gestures, and expressions are deeply cultured and
possess high communicative potential for people from similar backgrounds. Communication must be able to evoke
a response from the receiver, which would be evident in the form of some behavioral changes. Communication is
one of the important things or tools that can connect us to each other. By communicating to others can help us in
the problems or struggles we are facing. Proper communication is important because it is one of the thing that the
person you are communicating to is observing or it can be an impression to others. Communication can be defined
as interacting to each other such as using verbal or non-verbal language. Communication helps build relationship, it
also improve the working environment, it can also help build strong team or group in work, and communication
earns more respect. In communication or communicating there are lot of things we can do.

In the traditional set up of academic process we are communicating with our professors or teachers and even
our co-students or classmates face-to-face or verbal, but now that we are in a pandemic situation, we communicate
to our professors/teachers/co-students/classmates online by using technology. By reading, writing and listening can
be an effective communication used in academic set up. If there is no communication process in an academic set up
or in our daily lives can lead every professors/teachers/co-students/classmates and even other people
misunderstand each other. By having good communication in school or on online class can lead the students to a
success. Productive communication is a boost to career development. We use communication every day and every
time we interact with each other. Communication is a mode which helps us to express or transfer our messages,
thoughts, and feelings thinking’s imaginations and ideas. Communication divided into two parts which is the
verbal language and non-verbal language. When we say verbal language we interact to each other face to face and
in non-verbal we interact with each other by using gestures, body language and more. The purposes of
communication is to share information, gain knowledge and express emotions or feelings. Communication as well
as the organizational structure is imperative for any organization to become successful. Effective communication is
one of the main foundations in building a strong relationship between professors/teachers/students/classmates and
other people. If there is no communication or ineffective communication there will be a misunderstanding.
At all levels of education, students must be able to communicate effectively. Without well-developed
communication skills, children run the risk of falling behind their peers or becoming emotionally overwhelmed or
withdrawn at school. Academic success depends on solid communication skills, beginning with clear oral
communication. Students are often called upon in class to answer questions. These questions may range from those
with simple factual answers to questions that involve putting thoughts together and making arguments. Answers to
questions need to be communicated effectively so teachers can assess a student’s knowledge. Students with oral
challenges may also become embarrassed if they are unable to communicate on par with their peers. If a student
stutters or mumbles they may become fearful of speaking up in class, and this in turn can lead to lowered grades
and diminished self-esteem.
A second aspect of oral language communication is pragmatic and social language, used in daily interactions
with others. This includes what is said, how it’s said and non-verbal communication, such as eye contact, facial
expressions and body language. We navigate our world and our social relationships through language.
Understanding how to communicate effectively with peers sets the stage for positive self-esteem. Students feel
empowered when they can “talk the talk” in their social lives. Effective use of oral communication also allows
students to advocate for themselves. They must be able to articulate when and how their academic needs are not
being met. A student who can effectively ask questions and get help from a teacher will often be more successful
than students who remain silent even when they are unsure of what is being asked of them. In addition to oral
communication, a child must also develop the ability to communicate effectively with the written word. As
students’ progress through the school years, they are expected to present more of their work in written form. They
need to know how to clearly write arguments, summaries, hypotheses, and be able to synthesize complex ideas and
concepts. Thoughts and ideas need to be expressed clearly, with effective use of tone and language for the intended
audience. Composing a compelling essay is dramatically different than writing a text to a friend. While it is easier,
more effective, and less costly to treat speech and language disorders early, in the toddler years, it is never too late
to get treatment. If a parent has concerns about their child’s ability to communicate, they should seek
an evaluation by a speech and language pathologist. With the support of a speech therapist and an educational
therapist, students who struggle with the academic aspects of language can become stronger students and learn the
communication skills they need to be successful in school and in life. Communication requires the formation of
communicative motivation and reason. Information tends to flow from the sender to the recipient. Communication
plays a vital role in the personal, business, as well as social life. Every human activity needs communication in
some way or the other. The success of communication depends on the proper understanding of the parties involved
in it. Communication is media, as well as channel-based. Effective communication considers more of the emotions
and intents of the information received. Facial expressions have an essential role to play in communication.
Excellent communication skills can lead to a good conversation. One should always be clear of their
communicating style, ensuring that it is not impacting anyone negatively.

Communication is the greatest importance. It is important to sharing out one’s thoughts and feelings to live a
fuller and happier life. The more we communicate the less we suffer and the better we feel about everything around.
However, it is all the more necessary to learn the art of effective communication to put across ones point well.
Communication has more to do with than the mere transmission of information. It requires an element of success
and correct body language in transmitting and imparting messages, be it information or even emotions and feelings.
Two people may read differently based on the choice of words used in communication. The receiver might not
have the same understanding as that of the sender. The body language of a person plays a significant role in the act
of communication.
