Lesson: Identifying The Regions of Areas Under The Normal Curve
INTRODUCTION
It is very important in statistics and are often used in the natural and social
sciences to represent real-valued random variables whose distributions are not
known. Their importance is partly due to the central limit theorem. It states that,
under some conditions, the average of many samples (observations) of a random
variable with finite mean and variance is itself a random variable whose distribution
converges to a normal distribution as the number of samples increases. Therefore,
physical quantities that are expected to be the sum of many independent processes
(such as measurement errors) often have distributions that are nearly normal. If we
say normal distribution, normal curve is included here.
COLOR GAME!!!
MATERIALS TO BRING:
Crayons (BLUE, RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, BLACK, PINK, GREEN, VIOLET)
Copy of Activity Sheet
Pencil
Timer
1. Each students will be given a copy of the activity sheet which is shown below.
2. What they need to do is to find and color the 8 words that are connected to the
topic.
3. The 8 words that they need to find and color are already given below together
with its assigned color of crayon.
4. Student who will be the first one to find and color the 8 words will get additional
2 points.
5. Before the students do the activity the teacher will set the timer first.

DISCUSSION
There are many different normal distributions, with each one depending on two
parameters: the population mean, μ, and the population standard deviation, σ.
Rather than performing computations on each new set of parameters for a variety of
normal curves, it is easier to work in reference to the "simplest case" of the normal
curves, called the standard normal distribution.
The process of converting a value from a normal distribution to a value for the
standard normal distribution is called "standardizing" and requires the use of z-
scores.
The z-score is positive if the value lies above the mean, and negative if it lies
below the mean.
x- given measure
μ- population mean
σ- standard deviation
Here are the 4 process to determine areas and normal curve given
as Z value:

ACTIVITY 2
THERE’S ALWAYS A CHOICE!!!
Direction: Find the Z value of the c given under the star in the left side and then
choose your answer from the choices under the emoticon in the right side. Do not
forget to illustrate the graph of areas under its normal curve. Put your answers on
the blank.
“Do not dream with ease because dream comes from hardship.”
“Life is like solving equation, it needs formula to get the perfect success
and sequence”.
ASSESSMENT
PERFORMANCE TASK
Direction
1. Divide the class into two (2) groups.
2. Each group should make songs about identifying the regions of
areas under normal curve and out of it the group also should make
an interpretative dance.
