The great and exceptional philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson once said , “The purpose of life is not
to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference
that you have lived and lived well,”. Society has taught us to always chase happiness in life but we don’t
realize the more we run after it , the farther we fall behind . Notwithstanding, one’s true self discovers
happiness when they find true compassion and honor and to have not just fair lived but lived well. NHS
is a undoubtedly an exceptional way to grow and show honor as a student , bring alter in society, and
find true compassion, and only then will I not chase happiness, but truly have it.
Socializing and being part of big ideas have always been an important part of my life. I am
someone who loves learning about new ideas everyday and to accept the differences, someone who
constantly tries to look at the bigger picture. Furthermore, the community has always played a big role
in my growth as an ambitious teenager always looking to give back and I try my best to do so.
Throughout my school days, I’ve had the honor of hosting plethora of events for my school, some
of which include numerous science fairs and spelling bees. As an active member in my previous school, I
pride myself on organizing the first Model UN conference in the school with the support of my fellow
mates. In addition, I’ve never failed to grab an opportunity to volunteer in various public events like the
annual “Color Runs” in the city. Over the years, these have helped me develop several life skills which
have enabled me to communicate and interact with the people around me with ease, and have turned
me into the true leader that I believe I now am.
Having learned so much about the values of playing an active role in order to advance society, I
strongly believe Poinciana High School National Honor Society would be the perfect opportunity for me
to make the best use of my qualities and have an important influence in the community. Looking back at
my previous services to society, I have always proven to be a reliable and responsible member who is
never afraid to provide new ideas for the betterment of the future. I am a strong believer when it comes
to balance in life and hence, I deeply prioritize the balance in helping out the people around me and my
academic responsibilities as well, maintaining a consistent 3.79 GPA through high school.
The principles of being an NHS member are leadership, character, service and scholarship and I
believe I am more than just qualified to be a part of this reputable and prestigious organization. I am
confident I have demonstrated all the qualities required to be a part of this group and hope I am given
the opportunity to continue providing for society.
