Examples CSS….
The stowage of 53’ containers on-board MV ….. is not covered by the vessel’s cargo securing manual.
Therefore CSS is used to design a securing arrangement. The lashing arrangement is checked
according to Annex 13. Accelerations taken from detailed calculations as shown in MSC 1623
Appendix 2.
Due to the different accelerations which act on the vessel and the cargo including the
gravity there are several forces acting on the vessel and the cargo. These Forces have to be
calculated or estimated in order to find out if the deck's stability is high enough.
There are six different accelerations according to the six different degrees of freedom:
