STRATEGIES FOR SELF
IMPROVEMENT AND CHANGE
For proper and effective functioning of the business, human relations play an
integral part for the success and growth of enterprise as well as individuals. The
leading factor in the journey of success for humans is their intrapersonal skills
which reflects inner capabilities, unique behavior which helps them to manage
their attitude, build good relationships, increase concentration etc. which
directly results in achieving their goals.
To check the level of various intrapersonal skills, I have undergone different
tests result of which is as shown in the Fig 1 below:

Test 1: Time Management Skill Test

Test 2: Test Your Stress Test

Test 3: Big 5 Personality Test

Test 4: Myers Briggs Test

FIG 1 : SELF ASSESSMENT TESTS

 Test 1: In Time management skill test, I have scored efficiency of 70%
which means I am still lacking skills in managing my time to reach optimum
level of productivity. But I am confident and have an ability to complete
tasks on time. As per results, I will try to practice and adapt more effective
management strategies in future to improvise which I will discuss in more
detail in the upcoming paragraphs.
How will you IMPROVE your time management skills for the future?

Managing time is the most important skill in business to get work done in an
efficient and productive manner. Strong time management skills help in
advancement of career, achieving goals and set us one step ahead towards
our personal growth leading to a lot more opportunities in the fast-paced
environment.
To improvise, I will try to implement few strategies given below to get more
efficient results in future:
1. Use a software to keep track of time: Due to technological
advancement, we have various time tracking apps and software. I will try
to use those apps to keep time log so that at the end of the day, I will be
aware about the areas where I am spending more time and I need
improvisation.
2. Implement to-do list: I will try to make a to-do list every day with
different challenges and tasks with assigned deadlines for each task.
3. Prioritize: Categorizing task into different stages and understanding the
importance of every stage. As urgent tasks need to be implemented first
after that less important ones. Highlighting and giving priority in an
orderly manner to the tasks as well as keeping in mind the effect of each
stage in short, medium, and long term will help in more efficient
productivity.
4. Avoid distractions: While working just try to set goals and concentrate
more on task. As we all are aware that nowadays, major source of
distraction is our mobile phones, social media notifications and more.
Just be determined and focus on scheduled goals. Try to give regular
breaks for refreshment where I can better utilize this time for satisfying
my urge towards the reasons of distraction.
5. Review progress: Analyzing and Self-assessment after completion of
every task helps me in more awareness towards my goal.
 Test 2: In Test your stress test, I have achieved score of 18 which is of
moderate level as shown in Fig 1.
Due to high competition and increasing demands of the industry, stress
among individuals is common. To manage stress level plays a significant
role in development. Stress leads to various health issues as well. Therefore,
we need to be aware about how we manage tough situations in stressful
environment and to know and make aware about how we react to stress is
very important to understand. Thus, we can handle stress in a healthy way
using various techniques.
How do you react to stress?
The fundamental step to have good stress management skill is to understand
how we react to stress. Whenever I feel of having stress about stressful
situation then my reaction is not normal. In that situation I always get
nervous and not able to concentrate on other things and a kind of rudeness
comes in my nature. I start losing my temper very easily with friend and
family which have no concern with my traumatic situation.
Strategies to cope up with stress:
1. Relaxation: Meditation, doing exercise always leads to relaxation for my
mind and brain. In stressful environment, it is crucial to perform activities
that relaxes you.
2. Positive attitude: Stress and to harm yourself due to hard challenges is
not acceptable. Try to learn from your mistakes and have an enough
courage to face your hardships with confidence rather than focusing on
negative thoughts. Our Attitude matters a lot during a challenge. So,
surround yourself with positive vibes.
3. Proper Sleep: Lack of sufficient sleep has adverse effects on human
body which leads to irritation, lack of concentration, health issues. So, it
is important to take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. It keeps you energetic and
focused throughout the day.
4. Surround yourself with positive people: Always try to share your
problems with the one you trust. Surround with your close ones your
family members, friends. They will motivate you and keep you on track
during your hard times with effective solutions.
 Test 3: In Big 5 Personality test, as the name indicates it consists of 5 skill
set which we describe as OCEAN.
What did you discover about yourself? Were you surprised?
As per test results, I have discovered where I stand in terms of these skills
and its level indicates in which area, I need more improvements:
1. Openness to Experience: This skill tells us about how much we like to
try and experience new changes by coming out from our comfort zone.
As, score is between low and medium. Result is not surprising for me.
That means when it comes to a change or trying something new in my life
firstly, I try to avoid the situation as sometimes its hard to get out of my
comfort zone. But some new changes really give excitement and I like to
perform it with full enthusiasm.
2. Conscientiousness: This emphasis on how focused one is towards goal
and achievement. Result of this trait is also between low and medium. It
really surprised me. I am very organised and responsible person when it
comes to challenges and tasks. I love to accept challenges and give my
best to achieve my goals. But at the same time, I am also lazy due to
which I lose my focus.
3. Extraversion: The score for this trait is between medium and high. That
is little surprising for me. I am more introvert than extrovert. I am of shy
nature but once I get comfortable with someone then I am good to go.
4. Agreeableness: High Score for this trait is of no surprise to me as I am
very friendly, cooperative. I am a team player and love to work in a team.
I firmly believe that working in a team and creating good environment is
one of greatest skill for the personal development.
5. Neuroticism: Medium score for this skill set indicates I need to improve
in this area. Sometimes due to workload and stress level I am not able to
control my anger and I start behaving rudely with my family and friends.
So, I need to adapt an improvement plan for this asset.

 Test 4: In Myers briggs Test, results indicate my preference types as 9%

extraverted, 54% sensing, 18% thinking, 22% judging.
I am more extrovert with high sensing power and passion to achieve my
goals with full enthusiasm. I believe that I am more concerned about others
and I made decisions based on that rather than preferring logically. I have
strong values and beliefs which helps me in making up a decision.

A plan for improvement

Self-assessment tests (Fig 1) help me a lot to better understand my skill set
and made me aware about the specific areas of intrapersonal skills which
needs more improvements. It helped me and motivated me to enhance my
personal development with passion. Improvement that I am going to do and
include my daily schedule is given below:

1. Set my Goals and challenging tasks for each day.
