Syllabication Guide for Students

The document provides rules for counting syllables in words and breaking words into syllables. It states that a syllable contains a dominant vowel sound and consists of combinations of letters. It then outlines six rules for dividing words into syllables: 1) break between two middle consonants, 2) remember consonant exceptions like "ch" and "th", 3) break before a single middle consonant, 4) the "le" combination forms one syllable, 5) separate meaningful two-word combinations, and 6) prefixes and suffixes are separate syllables. Examples are given to demonstrate each rule.
