Description about her workplace, Barangay Lizada Health Center

With its large population, our barangay have two health centers in our
community. She have been allocated at Curvada, Lizada, and the health center is very next to the
Barangay Hall and Disaster Operation Center. A two story structure that is well ventilated with two
standard fans and mainly two fluorescent lights. They have a safe and broad rooms inside with
accessibility to primary medical equipment which they normally utilize for check - ups and home
visitations. Refrigerators for vaccines, as well as cabinets to store vitamins and capsules for medical
usage, are also available. The overall design and color of the building incorporates the colors or
scenes of nature which gives a calming attitude. Lastly, they strictly adhere to health standards,
cleanliness and sanitation inside the center to imply their level of care to the people.
Achievements of Barangay (Pandemic Era)
 When the pandemic began, the barangay gave assistance through Ayuda's, which are
distributed fairly among community households and persisted for nearly three months after
lockdown measures were eased.
 They engaged in the national and local health restriction agenda's and promotions. They
actually distributed face masks and publications from the DOH which include vital information's
of the do's and don’ts in time of health crisis. Nutrition Month is also recognized in the
barangay, with events aimed at raising awareness about malnutrition and vitamin distribution
to children.
 They have established a response and rescue squad to assist in circumstances where there
are potential infections in the public and particularly during disasters.
 Last September, 2021 they started a vaccination drive at Jv Ferriols National High School with
the sponsorship of the running candidates for the barangay elections. They also made home
visits throughout that time to urge and list people to obtain their vaccine doses.
 During last week of December, they began to administer booster doses in the center with the
cooperation of other barangay health workers and nurses.
 They held a webinar on children's rights with a guest from the city's social welfare and
development office in November 2021. Teenagers from the neighborhood attended the event,
which encouraged them to relate their experiences throughout the pandemic. With the
sponsorship of the barangay, they offered a full packed lunch to the participants from Jollibee.
 They provided posters that are displayed not only in the center but also around the community
to encourage people to be more aware of their health. Moreover, the barangay is still on strict
duty to ensure that the community is risk free from possible harms of today's threats by
providing new security measures such as standard CCTV's and other security equipment.
 The barangay also took part in “Araw ng Toril” Celebration, the people were given the
opportunity to showcase their wit and talents through fun and exciting events that took place
online. It drew everyone's attention since they also emphasized the necessity of enjoyment in
the face of crisis.
 Primary health services including immunizations for Measles, Flu, HPV, and other diseases
were still available in the barangay. As well as circumcision for young men, deworming, dental
and nutritional care for all particularly on elders, pregnant women, and infants.
 Finally, when Typhoon Odette brought havoc to our fellowmen in Visayas and Northern part of
Mindanao, our barangay stepped up to aid by sending disaster relief teams to the impacted
areas.
Issues Encountered (Pandemic Era)
The Pandemic had adversely changed their routine operations. There were no critical issues that had
a major effect on them, but rather limited their programs, and as a result, they were compelled to put
themselves at risk through house visits. It was also challenging for them to persuade individuals to
get vaccinated, particularly the elderly and children. Additionally, with the new omicron variant posing
a persistent threat, they are concerned about medical supplies such as primary medicines, as these
are routinely available in the center. And they're delighted that the barangay authorities have been so
supportive of the center's objectives and operation.

Professional Health Workers in the Barangay

Except for two nurses and one nutritionist scholar who have been working with them since the
pandemic began and who administered throughout the vaccination, immunization, and other patient
care operations, there are no other barangay-based professionals in the center.

Organizational Chart of Health Care Workers in the Center

Unfortunately, they began to form an organization right before the pandemic. They have their initial
staff within a short time and now they have plans on reimplementation before elections in May this
year. Mrs. Macavit only highlighted the center's essential staff because some of the officials are
unfamiliar to her owing to her age and since they haven’t had any one on one gatherings ever since
the crisis set foot.
