1. Introduction
1.1. Purpose
This manual describes the functioning of the system elements DI-2110/BISI26 and DI-2111/BISI26
(BInary Signal Input) and essentially contains
N Functional descriptions
N Technical Specifications
N Descriptions of interfaces to the process and other system elements
N Possible configurations
1.2. Application
The peripheral elements DI-2110/BISI26 and DI-2111/BISI26 are used in automation units of the
systems AK 1703 ACP and AK 1703. They are deployed in the field of telecontrol and automation. The
peripheral elements are used for the acquisition of binary inputs.
The document you are reading right now is addressed to users, who are in charge of the following
engineering tasks:
N Conceptual activities, as for example design and configuration
N Creation of the assembly technical documentation using the designated engineering tools
N System parameterization and system diagnostic, using the designated engineering tools
N Technical system maintenance
Above applies, as far as these tasks do not involve manipulations of the hardware.
Manipulating the hardware itself, as for example "unplugging" and "plugging" printed circuit boards
and modules, or working on terminals and/or connectors – for instance when applying changes to the
wiring – are – also if they are an issue in the context of configuration, parameterization and diagnostic –
not subject of this document.
1.5. Architecture
1.5.1. Mechanics
The peripheral element is coupled to the basic system element via the Ax 1703 peripheral bus.
The address of the peripheral element on the Ax 1703 peripheral bus is determined in
SAT TOOLBOX II, when defining the Ax 1703 peripheral bus configuration. This address is then set by
means of the PBA switch (×) on the peripheral element.
N single-point information
─ acquisition and processing in 1ms grids
─ information blocking and revision
─ inverting
─ firmware filtering
─ bounce suppression
─ power monitoring
N double-point information
─ acquisition and processing in 1ms grids
─ information blocking and revision
─ inverting
─ firmware filtering
─ bounce suppression
─ monitoring intermediate and faulty positions
─ control location detection
─ reporting switching operations in progress
─ breaker tripping detection
─ automatic reclosure
─ power monitoring
The above mentioned functions are described in detail in the document SAT 1703
Common Functions Peripheral Elements according to IEC 60870-5-101/104
2.2. Engineering
For diagnosis, testing, parameter setting or documentation, the system element is supported by the
engineering tools of SAT TOOLBOX II. OPM II is required.

DI-2110 DI-2111
Nominal voltages 24 .. 60 VDC 110 .. 220 VDC
Rated current 0.75 .. 3.25 mA (at 18 .. 78 V) 0.3 .. 0.8 mA (at 110 .. 220 V)
Input circuits 18 .. 78 VDC 83 .. 286 VDC
The circuits are operated by means of an external voltage
Operating points @ 25% Nominal voltage = "logic 0"
J 70% Nominal voltage = "logic 1"
Can be set using OPM II. The values above are default.
Power Supply
Operating voltage 4.75 .. 5.25 VDC, typ. 4.8 W
The voltage is picked off at the bus of mounting rack
The assignment of single-point information, double-point information and count pulses to the binary
inputs (HW-Pin) is done according to the following schema:
2.7. Data Interface Basic System Element (BSE) – Peripheral Element (PE)
Single-Point Information
Double-Point Information
Count
A 96-pin male connector according to DIN 41612 type C is used. The peripheral connector's pin
assignment is described in the following table. For the signals of the various pins, abbreviations were
used that is explained below.
The "DI/X2" column refers to the male connector of the peripheral connectors.
The "CM-2851" column lists the corresponding pins of the CM-2851 connection board.
The above figure shows one example of the assignment of inputs and/or outputs as
well as their external circuitry. Rules, which must be considered for the assignment
of the inputs and/or outputs, can be found in chapter "I/O Assignment".
