Peripheral Vascular Assessment

The document discusses peripheral circulation and regulation, major veins, and Homan's sign test for assessing deep vein thrombosis. Homan's sign involves passively dorsiflexing a client's ankle while their knee is extended to check for pain deep in the calf, which could indicate a DVT. Tenderness, heat, diminished or absent dorsalis pedis pulse, swelling, and pallor in the leg are other potential positive findings of the test that should result in referral for further examination.
