LEARNING EPISODE Matching Problematic
4 Learning Situation with
Probable Action
Participate and Assist
What five problems have you identifies from the words that you have encircled?
The problems I identified are:
1. Reading Difficulty
2. Bullying
3. Connectivity
4. Comprehension
5. Involvement
Make a statement. Write in the space below.
How can you assist your mentor, after knowing that the learners have difficulty in
comprehension?
The problem I spotted is Reading Difficulty. to help my mentor I can have a remedial
session
Make a choice for your ACTION.
A. Conduct a remedial lesson
B. Show video lessons to help enhance reading skill.
C. Make a learning task to develop reading skill.
Suppose you choose letter A. Conduct a Remedial Lesson. So you have identified the
SOLUTION that matches the PROBLEM which is Difficulty in Comprehension.
The problem is: The Action is:
Reading Difficulty in Conduct a Remedial
English Session
Can you also choose letter B: Show video lesson as a SOLUTION for the same PROBLEM?
Explain Video Lesson is a great Strategic Intervention Material to teach a student on the proper
pronunciation they can read it at the same they hear the words
The problem is: The Action is:
Reading Difficulty in
Show Video Lesson
English
What about letter C as a SOLUTION to the same PROBLEM? Why? We can track the learning
progress, identify what type of words he/she finds it difficult to read and we can come up to a
best strategic intervention material
The problem is: The Action is:
Reading Difficulty in Make a learning task to develop
English reading skill
Notice
What have you noticed of the problem identified above? Can be there be more than one
solution to the problem? Yes, there would be more than solution to a certain problem
Explain Let me quote what Imelda Marcos have said “Mas malawak ang langit kaysa lupa.
Mas maraming solusyon kaysa problema”. These statements will tell us that every problem that
we encounter there are lot of solutions we can make. We just have to explore and discover these
solutions. We have just to creative and innovative to acquire more than one solution to the same
problem.
Analyze
Let us try to look into following scenarios in the daily life of a teacher. This scenario
might also be similar to the class you have observed and noticed.
Scenario A: Miss Fely is a grade four teacher in a typical elementary teacher. She has forty
learners in her class. One half of them cannot classify animals into vertebrates and
invertebrates. She has been repeating the same science lesson for two weeks, yet
no progress was observed. This situation has been bothering Miss Fely.
Can you identify, Miss Fely’s problem? The problem is the teaching method being
integrated
Can you find a solution to solve her problem? Yes Give your two suggestions.
a. Venture or use another teaching strategy that would cater all kinds of learners
she has
b. Conduct a Remediation session or use Strategic Intervention Material
What solution can solve Miss Fely’s problem? Conduct a Remediation session or use
Strategic Intervention Material
How? She can use the remedial session to reteach the concepts of the topic to the half
of the class who cannot grasp.
Are they matched with the problem? Yes
Scenario B: Sir Ryan teaches in a disadvantaged urban community. Most of his learners come
from families that are disrupted, either with single parents or with their guardians
who stand only as parents. They are deprived of the necessary food, clothing and
shelter.
Can you identify the most probable teaching-learning problem/s in the class of Sir
Ryan?
a. Students Misbehavior
b. Motivation
Can you propose a solution to solve one of the problems that you have identified?
To motivate students, share a motivational quote every day, stories or videos
before starting the class discussion These things will motivate these kinds of
students to pay attention to the importance of education and that their current
situation is not permanent. There are lot of stories of people that from rags
they became well-known and rich and they can do the same thing as long as
they are motivated to study.
Reflect
After reading the two scenarios given above, how would identifying problematic
situations and finding solutions to these problems help you to become a better teacher?
Explain: A teacher that could identify problematic situations and find solutions to these
problems will help him/her become a better teacher. If a teacher can be able to identify problems
inside the school, he/she can create tangible solutions to mitigate or prevent worst effect of these
problems inside the classroom. “Prevention is better Cure” this statement reminds teacher to
have a keen eye to spot problems and prevent it thus preventing the problem to occur in the
classroom will ensure that learners will receive the quality education they deserve.
Write Action Research Prompts
Using any one example of problems in this activity, answer the AR prompts that follow:
OBSERVE
What problematic situation prevails in the classroom?
Less participation and engagement of students during the virtual discussion.
REFLECT
What changes do you want to achieve?
Increase the number of students who can participate and actively engage
themselves during the virtual discussion.
PLAN
What strategies will you use to improve the situation?
Integrate in the class discussion the use of Virtual Laboratory or so that it will
catch the attention of the learners and motivate them to participate and engage.
ACT
What would be the title of your Action Research should you conduct on the study?
Integrating a Virtual Reality Laboratory in Science to Improve and Enhance the
Performance of Grade 7 Science Learners
Add: Solutions / Actions
Provide rewards for those who always participate like an increase in points or
exception for some activities or quiz and this will motivate other learners to do the same
Check for Mastery
Here are some problematic situations in the teaching-learning environment as observed
and experienced by the teachers. Match the problems listed in Column A in corresponding
probable solutions in Column B. You may use the letter once, more than once, or not at all.
Problematic Situations Probable Solutions/ Actions
F 1. Connectivity for Online learning A. Rearrange classroom setting
A 2. Disruptive Classroom Behavior B. Maximized use of varied instructional
materials
D 3. Poor interest and motivation C. Regular parent-teachers circles
C 4. Parental non-involvement D. Use of rewards
F 5. At risk-students E. Group studies and Study Buddies
F. Use of Flexible Learning
G. Silent Reading Exercises

III. Abstract
Laboratory activities play an important role in promoting scientific learning disciplines by
allowing students to gain practical skills through experiments and allowing them to gain a
deeper comprehension of the material. Virtual laboratory activities can save money, time,
and effort, despite the fact that laboratory activities are costly and time-consuming. The
Virtual Reality Laboratory is a web-based platform that introduces a secure and interactive
lab environment to grade 7 students in order to improve learning methodologies. During user
trials, the VR Laboratory was considered to be an engaging, practical, and enjoyable
learning environment. It allowed people to carry out tests on their own and repeat them as
many times as they needed.
IV. Identify the Problem in the Study.
The problem in the study is that some practical skills can be learners by experience just like
experiments that requires hands-on activities but due to the pandemic, learners cannot do it
in the laboratory thus some skills may not be learned and mastered
V. Identify the Action Taken in the Study
To address this problem, the researchers plan to integrate a virtual reality laboratory that
would help learners to experience learning by doing. That despite they cannot have the
experiment inside the laboratory they can use the VR Laboratory available in the web to
learn the skills require for them to learn and master
