Indigenous studies is a significant topic. It's about broadening the human story and ensuring that all
cultures are treated equally. Indigenous peoples and peoples also have specific human rights related to
their identity, such as the right to maintain and enjoy their culture and language without discrimination,
access to ancestral lands and subsistence lands, and the right to choose their own development patterns
indigenous Peoples have retained much of their traditional, pre-colonial culture, social institutions and
livelihood practices. They have generally live in isolated areas that’s why they have lack of access to the
basic social services and opportunities for economic activities like education or political participation. In
contrast, commercially valuable natural resources such as minerals, forests and rivers can be found
primarily in their areas, making them continuously vulnerable to development aggression and land
grabbing.
. Indigenous peoples have specific human rights which is like the right to maintain and enjoy their rights
nowadays because they have been victims of neutralization that somehow endangers their culture,
properties, and even identity that’s why we have republic act no 8371 (IPRA) which is to preserve and
protect their rights
