"You are in the great game now and the great game is ...." This quote resonated with me a lot when I first read it in one of the emails sent by the Admissions committee a couple of months ago. It was one of those times when I was quite terrified and uncertain about how I was going to deal with the sudden and uncomfortable transition in my life. Besides coming from a very different cultural background, I wasn’t sure about how I was ever going to make friends, especially virtually. Thinking of finding the answer to this quote one evening, as I bid my final goodbyes to my colleagues at my workplace, I decided to put in my best efforts in every challenge I would come across in future and it certainly paid off.
Today would have been completely different if it hadn't been for the Admissions committee's induction sessions, which gave me the opportunity to express myself, learn new things, and make the best of friends while working on various tasks. The admissions committee definitely strengthened this belief in me "they can conquer who believe they can".
Since the Admissions Committee has provided me with such cherishable
experiences, I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to pass on such experiences, to the future batches at IIM Raipur, and so contribute in any way I can, by being a member of this committee.
Additionally, out of the all the clubs and committees in IIM Raipur, I relate myself to Admissions committee the most. Ever since I was a child, I always enjoyed interacting with new people and learning new things even if it was a notch above my comfort zone. I believe that this committee would be the right place for me to use the relevant skills in my capacity and to gain valuable experiences.
I also believe that I’m very approachable and I always do my best to help any individual who reaches out to me. I’m also an effective communicator that allows me to express myself coherently. I firmly believe that being part of Admissions committee would be one of the best ways to network during MBA, fostering peer learning. This would further help me in learning new things and in making me a better person.
I have also held several positions of responsibility in the past. I would wish to apply these learning experiences if I get the opportunity to be a part this committee by putting my 100% effort as it serves my purpose. I would also strive hard to identify and improve existing processes in the committee.
On a final note, for me, the answer to the great game is thrilling instead of terrifying and this wouldn’t have been possible without the support from Admissions committee.
