You are required to make comparison between Civil Engineering MYCESMM and
MYCESMM 2. Matters to be highlighted including the criteria, general rules and the
essential features based on Section 1- Section 8 of the Malaysia Civil Engineering Standard
Method of Measurement.
In MYCESMM, there are 8 section which section 1 is definition, section 2 is general principle,
section 3 application of the work classification, section 4 is coding and numbering of item,
section 5 is preparation of bills of quantities, section 6 is about completion, pricing and use of
BQ, section 7 is method for related charges and section 8 is for work classification which is from
class A to class T.
In MYCESMM2, there are 7 sections which section 1 is scope and general, section 2 is
application and work classification, section 3 is coding and numbering of items, section 4 is
preparation of BQ, section 5 is completion, pricing and the use of the BQ, section 6 is method for
related charges and section 7 is work classification from class A to class W.
In conclusion, the differences of MYCESMM and MYCESMM2, if seems that the second
edition more to emphasize on BQ and also more detail for work classification.
Prepare the comparison and contrast between MYCESMM 2’s Building Work (Class M)
and those items which are used in SMM2. You are required to comment and give your
views on the measurement rules, the coverage and definition as well as any related
information which may affect the measurement works.
