The line graph illustrates the population of birds measured in millions of birds, for Europe and
Canada between 1992 and 2016.
Overall, it is clear that the European bird levels decreased over the given period. Canada, on the
other hand, experienced an upward trend in numbers which continued to 2016.
In 1992, the bird population was notably higher for Europe than for Canada at 150 and 100
million birds respectively. Figures for Europe then witnessed a period of relative stability to
around 150 million birds from 1992 to 2004 before declining quite dramatically to 100 million
European birds between 2004 and 2016.
By contrast, the Canadian bird population remained fairly constant for the first 15 years with
100 million birds. Nevertheless, this was followed by a significant turnaround in 2007, the bird
levels started to increase steadily, finishing the period at over 150 million Canadian birds.
