EPISODE 4: CROATIA

1 Border Control 1

The sound of tires screeching can be heard in the background, Akash

AKASH:
Good Morning.

Both BEN and Mr Travis turn around to look at Akash, Ben has a
concerned look on his face whilst Mr Travis seems calm but slightly
confused until a voice comes over the radio

Radio Voice:
We have just
arrived at the
border into Croatia.
(The Three men all cheer)
Unfortunately though,
the security at
the border control
have asked
to check every truck
and lorry.
So if I was you
I would get
ready to kill
a few hours.

All the men turn to each other with concerned faces. At this point
the scene expands outside the window of the lorry to show the rest
of the convoy all stopped and waiting.

BEN:
(To AKASH)
You woke up
at the
wrong time
my friend.

MR TRAVIS:
Akash how did
you sleep?

AKASH:
It was alright,
I had a dream
about Croatia.
It was a long
dream though

MR TRAVIS:
Well I mean,
 we have quite
a lot of time
to kill,
give us
the story.

We go into a flashback sequence

AKASH:
So it started like a normal day,
I woke up in the back
of the lorry and
we were driving
along a crooked
road that had been
badly damaged throughout
the war,
there were dead
bodies piled
on parts of
the curb.
At this point I was
getting quite
worried.
We traveled along
for quite
a while on the
same road
but it felt like
the scenery
was the same
the entire time.
I was starting to feel
sick
as I kept seeing men
just laying
lifeless on the side
of the road
and at one point I saw a
teddy bear,
but I couldn’t see
its owner. It felt
like we were
traveling for a lifetime
before the scenery
changed, the fields turned
into the rubble of destroyed
buildings,
and the road changed to gravel.
We had arrived at
our first destination,
however before I could
see any detail
in the city I heard
a loud noise, almost deafening,
 and the next thing
I knew I could hear
tires screeching,
and I guess that was
the point I woke up.

The scene returns to normal rm the dream and MR TRAVIS looks at BEN
and then back at AKASH with a surprised look on his face, as if he
knew what was coming

MR TRAVIS:
Well that’s not good, hopefully
you don’t have
any deja vou.

MR TRAVIS starts to laugh, and BEN and AKASH join him but are a
little confused at what was funny

MR TRAVIS:
Akash I would not
worry about that,
this is my third convoy
and that has never
happened to me.
You will be very surprised
at what you see,
its never as
you imagine

AKASH:
Well I sure hope so,
but I still hope there is
people we can help
out there

BEN:
I am sure your just
Overthinking
everything Akash, remember the
War has end-

BEN is cut off as a helicopter goes over-head, BEN and AKASH look
over at MR TRAVIS as he slowly lifts his index finger in front of
his lips as if to tell BEN and AKASH to be silent, The Silence was
broken by another helicopter coming overhead, AKASH did not know
what was going on but he continued to look at MR TRAVIS who was
looking very nervous, suddenly the radio went off

RADIO VOICE:
Don’t worry everyone,
it was a
non-hostile helicopter.
Carry on as before
This made MR TRAVIS calm however AKASH and BEN did not look as calm,
they had just realized how serious this situation is, MR TRAVIS
realizes this and tried to calm the boys down
