Findings about opposite gender
Ladies share their problems a lot with people they trust. They wish for individuals who
listen without necessarily fixing the problem. For instance, if a lady shares with a male friend
about a harsh or unfriendly coworker, they expect a listening and sympathetic response. As a
man, I have always assumed that the way we share problems to get solutions is similar to ladies.
Perspective of the interviewed
The perspectives are not similar. In communication, men regard themselves as detached and
controlling. The ladies ' perspectives are very different as they see themselves as more dependent
and nurturant.
Purpose of perspective check
Perception checking is essential in increasing communication. When you know and understand
the viewpoint of the other party, you can identify the means of maintaining healthy
communication and avoid conflict. Perception checking is also essential in building friendship.
perceptions influence on communication with others
Perception is the procedure in which a person selects, sorts out, and interprets information. The
process has a great influence on communication due to different responses to stimuli based on
how we view them. The received information gets organized in patterns depending on similarity,
proximity, and difference. The size of stimuli is not similar across all types of information; thus,
the salience basis gets used to select information. For instance, telling individuals who perceive
themselves as powerful that they are not powerful might attract statements to approve their
perception. In a personal instance, one might perceive themselves as tall physically. On coming
across a taller person, the perception may change to a factual basis of height, rather than claiming
they are tall. Instead of saying they are tall, they can say 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Understanding perception is very important as it helps one appreciate the other person's point of
view. By doing so, healthy communication gets maintained. Perception allows a person to
respond according to the surrounding. This way, conflict is avoided as the response is given
while respecting the point of view of the other party. Every person has their perspective and a
way of approaching and responding to problems.
ways of improving communication
We can improve communication by maintaining a positive attitude. A negative attitude can
distort perception. Maintaining a positive attitude reduces the chances of personal bias. Knowing
and understanding oneself is also important in improving communication. One should know their
beliefs, prejudice, and values. Perceiving oneself accurately prevents people from misperceiving
others.
