Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics
STEM/HUMSS/ABM
First Semester, AY 2021-2022

VISION, MISSION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Vision

Romblon State University as a premier institution of higher education in the MIMAROPA Region for a globally competitive province of Romblon.

Mission

The University shall be committed to provide advanced education, higher technological and professional instruction and training in agriculture and fishery, forestry
science and technology, education, arts and sciences, and other relevant fields of study. It shall undertake research and extension services and provide progressive leadership in its
areas of specialization.

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
1. develop students’ awareness of cultural, social and political dynamics, and sensitivity to cultural diversity
2. understanding of how culture, human agency, society and politics work in a society
3. exam the country’s current human development goals

Course Description:

This course uses insights from Anthropology, Political Science, and Sociology to develop students’ awareness of cultural, soc ial and political dynamics, and sensitivity to
cultural diversity; provide them with an understanding of how culture, human agency, society and politics work; and engage them in the examination of the country’s current
human development goals. At the end of the course, students should acquire ideas about human cultures, human agency, society and politics; recognize cultural relativism and
social inclusiveness to overcome prejudices; and develop social and cultural competence to guide their interactions with groups, communities, networks, and institutions.

Course Code: Understanding Culture, Society and Politics


Credit Units: 3
Prerequisites: None

Course Requirements:

In order to pass this course, you must:

1) Read and understand each content in the Module.


2) Answer all the activities/quizzes presented in the Module.
3) Submit the required outputs on time.
4) Pass the Final Examination.

1. Outputs and written works. (70%)


a. The activities in every module will be graded as written works which comprise 70% of the total grade. Students need to answer all the activities in every module
before the retrieval.
2. Final Examination (30%)
a. The final examination will be conducted at the end of the semester. It will cover all the topics presented in every module. S tudents will be advised to be physically
present at school while following all health protocols during the examination. Further instruction will be provided before the examination.
