ASSESSMENT:
1. What are the topics we discussed during midterms? Share your insights about the topics.

The first topic that we discussed is all about body conditioning. We just recall
the topic that we tackled in first semester. We discussed about the warm up, stretching,
and cool down exercises, their important when doing a physical activities or exercises.
Also, we talk over the physical activity pyramid, it is useful and helpful to people live an
active lifestyle especially to those beginners, what would be the best way to start in order
to reduce the health risks associated with inactivity and to reduce the injury risks
associated with too much activity. When we say body conditioning, it is not only
beneficial to physical health but also to over-all well-being. Conditioning your body is
helpful and important in self defense because when your body is in condition and your
mental health is in condition you can defend yourself effectively. And that’s the second
topic that we discussed, self defense. The definition or meaning of self defense, some of
the defense mechanism, the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud, and the five keys to
a self-defense mindset. In order to protect yourself in any kind of dangerous situations,
you need to train or prepare your mental health in a good and proper condition because
unhealthy mindset might lead you to a dangerous situation. Self defense starts with your
mind because when you’re aware in your surroundings it will increase your safety. Your
instinct or gut will help you avoid the potential danger so awareness is a must because
you don’t know when something bad will happen to you, what will happen to you, where
you will can be attacked, how you will be attacked or who can do bad things to you. Our
brain is the best defensive tool to keep ourselves out of trouble. And, one of the useful
components to help people put distance between themselves and threats or unwanted
feelings are defend mechanisms. Also, there are five keys to self-defense mindset that are
helpful to increase our situational awareness. Being aware of our surroundings helps us
identify dangers and avoid those dangers, this is where are self defense begin, we need to
train and cultivate especially now because our world become more complex than before
because being clueless, distracted unprepared is far more likely to attract predators. And
the last topic that we tackled is about the cooper color code by Lieutenant Colonel Jeff
Cooper. There are four level of awareness but they added one level which is the black
condition. So, all in all there are five level of awareness. It's a psychological technique for
getting over your avoidance to killing people. The color code allows you to alter your
mental state in four stages, each of which allows you to resolve your mental block and
take life-saving action. The purpose of these is to give a baseline to identify the
psychological condition of a person dealing with life-threatening situation. The five color
code of awareness is white, yellow, orange, red and black. White condition is when a
person is unprepared, unready, or unconscious to take action, example is when you were
asleep or intoxicated. Yellow condition is you are relaxed and unalarmed but aware and
alert, you are casually scanning, example is when you wake up from a sleep because
something has fallen and make a noise. Orange condition is when you are already
identified the potential situation and start evaluating the situation and formulating a plan.
Red condition is when you are ready to take action. The threat is verified and ready to
run, hide or fight. And lastly, the black condition, this is the color code that we must not
possess because this will bring us to much more danger because instead of saving
ourselves, it will cause to our early death. This is when a person is in panic and
breakdown of physical and mental performance. These are the topics that we discussed
during midterms.
