Yes, when we write them, they begin in
small letters. They are called common
nouns or common names of people, places,
things and animals.

What do you notice about the naming

words in the second column?

Yes, they are written in big letters and

they name a specific person, place or
things. They are called proper nouns.

Points to Ponder

A noun is a word that names a

person, animal, place, thing, or idea.
All nouns can be further classified as
a proper or common noun.

Proper nouns have two distinct

features: They name specific one-of-a-
kind items, and they begin with capital
letters no matter where they occur
within a sentence. Examples: Masbate
Province, Mongol, Tagpi, etc.

Common nouns are words used

to name general items rather than
specific ones. Examples: mother,
school, classmate, hospital, etc.

Thank you kid for a job well done! You were

amazing! Till next episode of the next module. Bye!
