Road development in India during Twenty First Century
a. National Highway Development Projects (NHDP)
i. Golden Quadrilateral (started in 2000)– Phase –I Total length, 5846 km,
connecting four major metropolitan cities, Delhi-Mumbai; Mumbai-
Chennai; Chennai – Kolkata; Kolkata- Delhi
ii. Phase II – North –South Corridor (Srinagar to Kanyakumari), East-West
corridor (Silchar to Porbandar), total length 7300 km.
iii.Phase III, IV, V, VI, VII.

b. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY)

• Launched in 2000 by central government, to provide village
